Quote/Clan Role

┌━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┐
Though Flavus was born to a skilled general, the Coatl himself has found the art of battle a rather difficult one to master. As a young dragon, he spent much of his time observing battles, often attempting to mimic the moves on the sidelines--attempting being the keyword. Despite his passion for the movements, he lacked the grace and dexterity needed to wield weaponry and attack effectively, which created quite a hilarious sight for those in training. However, Flavus was determined to prove useful in some manner, and thus he shifted his goals to something more obtainable for him: metalworking.

As a Coatl, Flavus’ resistance to the high temperatures of a metal forge is unique to his breed, which made him an asset. With some guidance and practice, Flavus began to forge whatever he could manage. It began with simple iron fixtures and decorations, then quickly graduated to hardware, and later weaponry. He found himself growing talented in forging strong, balanced, and incredibly sharp blades and claws, which were both used for his clan and market sales. Though not entirely his passion, Flavus was thrilled that his job as a metalworker proved useful to his clan in many ways.

Flavus did find a passion project within his job, though only tangentially related to his work. With burnished gold coloring himself, Flavus has always hoped to make golden weaponry, however, its malleability ensures that it is impossible without sacrificing a sharp edge. With that in mind, Flavus has set out to create an alloy that looks like gold but is more durable when crafted into a sword. So far, he has not succeeded, but he does not intend to stop trying.

The Ring of Hammers

Golden blaze
embraces
golden red days
filled with heat
and toil
and metallic boil
though work
is not spoiled.

The hands which turn
the claws which grip
all rods and clasps
in cold, searing dips,
repairing the shield
and the sword
and the plates
of light armor
and ankle weights.

The jaws that stay
and grit tight in hope,
that the masterpiece
the project, intact,
on the ropes
a breath can escape
from a throat so
coated in hot air
that no vast desert
can compare.

The clang, the ring,
of the hammer swung,
strikes shape the plate,
guard and warrior sung
the tone of battle and
combat and deflection,
such a sound to the mind
of the crafter is an infection,
so pure and so dainty
though reminds still
the crafter to keep
the molds to refill.

The hiss of heat,
perished from the blade,
the helmet, the gauntlet,
the chains and the spade,
and return to hand
the renewed shine
and the might of
iron and steel
proving valuable result,
to add to boat and catapult.

But the small works
as well as those, like
axes, swords,
and crossbows, do
not shine any more,
than the gifts,
of diamond ore
platinum core,
and become the
precious things
that draw the eyes
of dragons that seek
your heart's prize,
yielding to none
but the workshop coal
to keep the fires burning
like your soul.
