Umbra grew up in the WolfHouse with her twin sister Arcane and her parents. Growing up in the constantly confusing atmosphere, a dragon could not be faulted for losing their sanity. But somehow, Umbra managed to keep her thoughts straight and endure. Her sister was not so lucky. In a bout of madness, Arcane fled the WolfHouse, closely pursued by her sister, who hoped to save her.

Unfortunately, the Starwood Strand has ways of turning travelers around.

She soon found herself completely turned around, unable to remember which way her sister had gone...and which way the WolfHouse was. For days she stumbled through the treacherous wood, evading several dangerous creatures with nothing more than pure luck. Eventually Umbra found herself in the Abiding Boneyard, having crossed the barrier between the domains of the Arcanist and the Plaguebringer. Now hopelessly lost, she wandered through the arid wastes without a goal in mind, having given up completely on finding her sister.

Using her meager magical skills, Umbra managed to keep herself free of disease as she traveled. She eventually passed the Foxfire Bramble and found herself in the Tangled Wood. There, she learned to put the hardiness she gained from living in the Scarred Wasteland to good use as a blade-for-hire.

In time, she learned to push aside the memories of her former life and focus only on the present. Umbra
