In the Copperwicks, there are plenty of brains to be had. That's most of the gang, truth be told: one dragon always trying to outsmart another. But being sharp in the head ain't the same as being sharp round the edges, and Salba's got the market cornered on that. Where her fellow con artists are busy dreaming up new schemes, she lies in wait for the part she's good at.
It's the part that hurts.
Strictly speaking, she's not a fan of visiting violence on others. It's more that she's good at it, and when you run with a gang of thieves and grifters, you sometimes need a little bit of heavy duty backup to keep things running smoothly. A solid tackle here, a nice pop over the head there, and it solves some problems that no amount of fancy talking or quick thinking will fix in time.
The Copperwicks are also Salba's family, and that, more than anything, is what makes her willing to battle and brawl. She's never had family like this, family that loves and supports one another, family that would die for each other without question. Growing up, family was a matter of blood ties and succession, and about figuring out whose responsibility it would be to see to funerary matters when the next eldest of the line passed. All formality, no heart.
These thieves have heart in spades and then some, though. Never has Salba felt more welcome, more trusted, and she rather prefers planning bank heists to cremation wishes. Life has so much to offer, even in the emptiest stretches of the Shifting Expanse, and she doesn't see the sense in wasting it on worry about legacies and lineages. She'd rather live in the moment, feel the sand between her claws, shake it out from under her scales, maybe crunch some custom armor between her teeth if she's feeling frisky.
But never mistake Salba's distaste for dealing damage as reluctance. Violence isn't always the answer, but it's an answer she excels at delivering when the time is right. Cross her gang, and you must be prepared to face the consequences, usually when they're barreling clear at you, shoulder lowered into the charge. Cheap shots will be answered with extreme prejudice, and fair play with Salba's finest form. Which would you rather deal with?
