Their first memory being getting yelled at by a human mage for half an hour straight, and then getting kicked out on the street before they even figured out what was going on or how to communicate didn't... fill them with confidence. Around humans nor in general, actually. They only really realized that they don't have to be scared all the time when Coda picked them up on her way out of Valencia, basically by pure chance. That, and they finally figured out how to write words into the air with their magic. And then Henry came in and helped them out with it even more, and... ...turns out feeling safe around someone is possible, and kind of nice. It might take a while to get behind the cautious, skittish phase, but once you do? Binary is very curious, bright and warm. They absolutely adore taking things apart to see how they work, only to then excitedly try to pass their newfound knowledge onto others. Software in particular seems to be a favourite. Most confrontation will have them freeze from a mixture of panic and genuine fear of ever hurting anyone. Could their magic be used for something else than their words and shields? Definitely. Will they ever use it as a weapon? No. They just really wish people would stop hurting each other. The fact that the state of the world makes it difficult is secondary. |
