Sophie Xeon is an EDM popstar who produced for the likes of Charli XCX, Lady Gaga, Madonna, and many other influential artists. She shaped the sound of electronic dance music as a trans woman to the mainstream level. Sophie was born on September 17th, 1986, and died at the age of 34, falling off her roof in an attempt to see the full moon on January 30th, 2021. In her memory, I requested that the song "Immaterial" off her album "Oil of Every Pearl's Un-Insides" be played today. Rest in peace, Sophie, I love you so much.

in times of immense sadness, I have found light in her work. I have sobbed my guts out to "It's Okay To Cry" and picked myself up every time afterwards. SOPHIE saved my life. I am forever indebted to her and her legacy. as fraxiom said, we should never sacrifice ourselves, because that isn't what SOPHIE would want for us. her message in her music has always been loud and clear: LOVE YOURSELF NO MATTER WHAT. and there are no exceptions to the "no matter what." that is what I learned from SOPHIE. ultimately, confidence is what I gained from discovering hyperpop. I learned self love and respect even through times of dysphoria and bad mistakes. I will always have her in my mind, my heart, and my being. there will never be anyone like you again, SOPHIE, thank you for pioneering what came to be my entire world.
