"Danger is the most beautiful dance partner." ╰━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╯ As the child of two of Sornieth's most agile acrobats, Wasp was saddled by expectations from the moment of his birth. The traveling circus troupe that employed his parents demanded nothing but perfection from them, and they demanded it from him in turn. He was their great investment-- this gangly, huge-winged hatchling, clumsy and frail, was their future. As he grew older, his parent's expectations began to weigh on him. Constant pressure led him to attempt increasingly dangerous stunts that, if not for his metallic scales, would have left him with numerous scars. Eventually, he grew almost addicted to the thrill, throwing himself into every performance with a vigor and confidence that the crowd went wild for. Years passed. Wasp began to overshadow his troupemates. Admiring gazes turned to spiteful whispers. It bothered him. Wasn't he supposed to be the best? Wasn't that what they wanted? Over time, the hostility wore on him until he was little more than his craft, risking life and limb as if it were nothing, spiraling into a deep pit of antisociality and self-loathing. Broken by dedication, his future looked grim-- until a certain Aberration joined the troupe. Ark was a breath of fresh air in an environment tainted by resentment. They didn't care that Wasp took all the attention-- they just wanted to tell stories, and this fascinated Wasp. Fascination turned to adoration, and soon the two were inseparable. Eventually, they both decided to leave the troupe behind and forge a new life. During their travels they encountered the strange imperial, Heliwr. Hir penchant for going from charming and carefree to sharp and violent in an instant was irresistible to Wasp, and he decided to follow her, in spite of gentle protest from Ark. Ultimately, his infatuation led him to choose his love over his only friend, and the two went their separate ways. Eventually, Wasp and Heliwr agreed to settle down, choosing a small but welcoming clan in the outer Ashfall Waste. Pleasantly surprised by the appearance of their old friend, Ark vouched for them, allowing them to join the clan. Heliwr laid hir first clutch, and Wasp vowed to be a better parent than his ever were-- a difficult promise, but one he was determined to keep. |
