It always amused Kayda to think that he would be a librarian. After all, they read and wrote better than any of their siblings--what else would he be? The amusement came mostly from the fact that everyone else in his family was a warrior. Everyone in his clan, in fact. They tried to ignore the pressure to join the family legacy while still being part of the family, but the shadow of his failings as a warrior never left. Eventually, it was just too much. They had to leave.

It wasn't too long before he came upon a clan newly established in an abandoned seaside town. They were greeted by Elroy, one of the warriors of the clan, which almost made them leave immediately, but he was soon reassured that most of the clan were peaceful--and that they were in need of a bookkeeper. Kayda gladly accepted the position.

Nowadays, he can't imagine a time where he would have found Elroy scary. The two of them have become very close. Joined by Archivist, Kayda has been working on restoring the town's old library. This is their family now: people who accept them for who they are, not who he failed to be.
