Biography

Pathfinder's Quiver King

"State your name."
──────────✽──────────

King has spent most of his life as a good and moral man. He met his husband Droverson at a young age, and they were fast friends until adulthood, when their relationship developed to something more. On the eve of their wedding, King confessed to Droverson a secret: he had been blessed (or cursed, depending on when you asked him) as an infant as a protector. If he has knowledge of wrongdoing, he is compelled on pain like death to right it. Droverson already had some skills as a mercenary, and it was easy work to train King to work alongside him. It was a miracle that King was, even besides his curse, the kind of man who strove to do the right thing. Chivalrous, polite, and upstanding, he gave in to the curse as long as he could.

Eventually, however, he knew that he couldn't spend the rest of his life at the whim of the magic. He spent a short time seeking a mage to cure him, but it quickly became clear that the curse was so deeply ingrained in his soul that removing it was an undertaking few were willing to take. Few...but not none.

King had heard of the Mad Mages' Retreat during a job, and was given quite a lot of money protecting someone from them at one point. It took very little convincing for him to get Droverson--who was sick of watching his husband destroy himself at others' expense--to escape with him to the Retreat. With their skills, it took very little convincing to get Azar to give them a job. He has confided his secret to only one other: the founders' daughter Gol. With knowledge as vast as hers, she alone might know how to extract the curse from him. All he can do is wait...and try and convince himself that this is a wrong being righted.
