Permafrost

Permafrost's family was cursed ever since his great-great-great-grandfather was born. RoseQuartz the Wildclaw succumbed to the gene that gave him his name. His Opal tertiary developed a deadly mutation that caused him to be slowly encrusted in ice over time, turning him into an inanimate ice statue. All his descendants who obtained the Opal gene from him also happened to pick up the mutation. Only those lucky enough to find a spell that could either slow down or entirely halt the progression of the curse were able to survive and remain animate.

Permafrost, however, is one of the dragons with the Opal curse, who unfortunately has not yet found a way to halt its effects. Since he, like his long-lost grandfather, was born in an Ice clan, his curse also turns him slowly into ice. As a strange side effect, though, his elemental Ice magic is boosted tremendously to a level unmatched by even the strongest ice mages in both his birth clan and current clan. This earned him a special spot among his new clan as their official Ice representative, although he doesn't really like the position.

He tries to undo the effects of his curse by wearing lots of clothing, and although it doesn't work, it makes him feel a lot less colder. Others may say that his Opal gene looks pretty against the metallic black of the rest of his scales, but he personally despises it, as it is a constant reminder of his curse. Moonflight is currently trying to help Permafrost at least slow down the effects of the freezing curse, even if it means completely removing his tertiary gene to save him from turning into another ice sculpture.

Like in Inkblotch's case, Permafrost was given an enchanted locket - another attempt to slow down his doomed fate. Although it doesn't really work, Permafrost still wears it anyway, as he feels it gives him good luck. Because of this he and Inkblotch were able to quickly bond over their shared plight, though one is from an uncurable contagious disease and one is from a possibly uncurable genetic disease. The Illuminated Runescroll seems to help a little, or at least Permafrost says it feels like it does. He still keeps the locket on him though - he's gotten quite attached to his lucky charm.

Argon is his other closest friend. In fact, they're close enough that Permafrost could consider him as more than a friend. Permafrost is too shy and unwilling to admit it himself to even try bringing it up to Argon, and he's so caught up in it that he doesn't even realize that Argon feels the same way for him, too.

Fun fact: I originally didn't want to have an Ice representative, since literally my entire clan is comprised of ice dragons, but I saw an opportunity through Permafrost soooo now he's my rep.
Fun fact: The Frostbreath Skink (THANK YOU FR DEVS THAT WAS PERFECT TIMING) is supposed to mirror Argon's Igneous Iguana, as Permafrost picked up the Iguana through a forum game and I wanted to reward my Imperial with his own little creature.
