Miitopia Fandragon
The Ex-Dark Lord,
Stan, Male Coatl, Arcane Flight?
Stan, Male Coatl, Arcane Flight?
Some dragons seem to be connected to multiple universes, possibly having an alternative version of themselves out there. Dr. Galvan and her scientists hope that by studying these dragons they've started calling doubleworlders, they can learn more about what’s beyond their own world.
Laboratory Logs
-Dr. Drame is finally letting me hunt an actual monster!
-Look, I enjoy meeting up with doubleworlders as much as the next scientist (they’re always super weird, but, like, in a good way), but I appreciate a nice change of pace, y’know?
-I’m on an island bordering the Southern Icefields and Starfall Isles (the name escapes me, but I’ll probably remember it later). You wouldn’t think there’d be a giant, draconic beast flying around in this area, considering how nice and peaceful it is here.
-I suppose I have to keep searching.
(***)
-Okay, I admit it, I’m really tired of meeting up with doubleworlders. The research is going nowhere and I’m pretty sure Drame assigned me to hunt doubleworlders in the first place just so I’d stay out of his shade monster studies. It sucks.
-Anyways, I kinda regret bringing my doubleworlder scanner with me, because it’s beeping right now.
-I could just ignore it. Say no one on this island was a doubleworlder.
-On the other hand, it’s my job to interview them. I get paid to do this.
-See you on the other side I guess.
(***)
-The doubleworlder was a coatl, wearing tattered-looking clothes as well as a hat I hadn’t seen before. I remember virtually nothing else about him appearance-wise because I was too focused on his hat.
-When he saw me approaching, he looked about ready to run away.
-I assured him I wasn’t there to hurt him or anything and that I just wanted to ask a few questions.
-He stared at me for a second before nodding his head.
-Question 1: What is your name?
-His name is Stan.
-Question 2: What is your occupation?
-None, yet. He needed a new job. When I asked further, he said he used to work in a factory.
-Question 3: Do you feel connected to other dimensions in any way, shape, or form?
-Stan stared at me, looking completely baffled. I took that as a no.
-I figured that was all I could ask, so I bid him farewell and returned to my campsite.
(***)
-I’m back now, and I’m still no closer to figuring out where the monster is.
-Now that I think about it, I should’ve asked Stan. I’ve been hanging out in the wild for while and he’s literally the only dragon I’ve met in person for the past two days.
-…Actually, what is he doing out in the wild?
(***)
-Since, as I wrote yesterdsy, there's literally no one else around here, I looked around for Stan again.
-When I found him, a bit farther from where we initially met, I called out his name. He looked startled, but he quickly regained his composure and waved back.
-I asked him if he had seen any monsters around. He told me he had seen a lot of monsters before.
-Okay, I thought to myself, he could probably help out on my monster search. And so I started describing the monster I was hunting for.
-Almost draconic-looking, but overall a lot more monstrous
-Blue scales and long, purple claws
-Flowing purple cloak, or something similar
-Steals souls or eyes or somethin like that
-Stan seemed nervous. He asked why I was hunting down this creature.
-I explained that I was a scientist sent here by my boss to contain it.
-He told me good luck before quickly walking away.
-Suspicious.
(***)
-Alright, I have some theories.
1. Stan is the monster and is purposefully trying to hide his true form, like a shapeshifter.
2. Stan is the monster and he's cursed to transform into it, like at night or something.
3. Stan is the monster, but it's nothing like the last two. I'm just 97% sure Stan's the monster.
4. Stan knows something about the monster that he doesn't want to tell me.
5. Stan's a regular dragon and he was late for a job interview. (Unlikely. Occam's razor and whatnot.)
(***)
-Hey, so apparently I was actually right.
-Today, I was packing everything up so I could keep hunting down the monster when Stan showed up.
-When I asked why he was there, he said he felt bad for not actually telling me anything about the monster the other day.
-He then explained that there was a necklace that had the ability to possess people.
-One day, while working at his old job at factory, he opened a crate with said necklace in it and it possessed him. Once it did, he saw himself wreak havoc upon the island without the ability to stop himself.
-(This story was a lot more upsetting than I thought it’d be)
-Eventually, though, a group of dragons stopped him and managed to free him from the necklace’s hold.
-I asked where the necklace was now.
-He told me that it possessed someone else immediately afterwards, but the dragons that initially stopped him had helped take care of that situation too, and now the necklace is completely harmless.
-I thanked him for the information and wished him luck on his job hunting. He, in turn, wished me luck with my own job before leaving.
-I was very surprised by the revelation that I actually guessed Stan was the monster.
-So much so that only after Stan left did I realize that Dr. Drame sent me to hunt a monster that was already neutralized.
-I grabbed my communicator and contacted Dr. Drame, asking if he already knew about this revelation.
-He told me not to bother him during his work and hung up.

Note to self: find Stan’s old place of work and figure out who’s been shipping objects to them. The fact that a cursed artifact ended up in one of their crates is… troubling, to say the least.
