A man was dragged into the throne room by the guards as he pleaded to be let go. He was thrown onto the ground in front of the blackened steps. Glancing up, the man was met with the cold stare of the crowned king of Malicion; Malignant.
“You step where you don’t belong, and now you’ve tainted my carpets with your filth. Why?” The king said bluntly.
“I don’t know what’s happening, I just want-“ the man started.
“I didn’t ask what you wanted.” Malignant interrupted. His face didn’t change. He held the same distant expression he’d had.

Malignant was far from graceful, and some believed him to be detached from the world around him. A claim quite difficult to dispute. The light from the room’s braziers glinted off his scales, yet almost seemed to leave his eyes abandoned of any shine. “I asked why. Why should I continue to let you corrupt my vision?”
He sputtered to find the words to respond.

Taking a chance, he turned to the queen. “I didn’t come here by choice! I was thrown in by a witch!” He shouted.
“Then you’re certainly not strong enough to be a guard. Even our squires could fight a witch…” The queen replied. The king rumbled in agreement, causing the man’s attention to be brought back to the king.


“Please, sir, I haven’t done-“ He said as he tried to stand up. The guards who pulled him in shoved him back down.
“If all you can do is beg, then what good are you? Clean this mess.” He commanded. He waved his hand dismissively as the guards pulled the man. The lost man’s were mixed with a strange laughter echoing through the halls as if the walls themselves were laughing at him. The sound came to a sudden stop as the large gate slammed shut. Looking down where the man was, Malignant hummed to himself. “I put all this effort to getting my carpets clean, just for a stray to make a mess.”
