Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so they say.
Daemonorops' eyes are very discerning. PERSONALITY Covetous, acquisitive, and notoriously proud of his collection, Daemonorops is exactly what one would expect of an Adorned, having put a great deal of effort into beautifying himself to his preference, and finding jewellery to complement himself. Despite this, certain other stereotypes of his kind hold true as well - Daemonorops is largely relaxed, almost lazy, absolutely complacent and dislikes change. Were it not for Carmilla he'd have fossilised. As it is, however, Carmilla's lively magic and her giving him something to do has continued to keep him, and his mate Dracaena well and active, and though Smoke seems to have begun the fossilisation process, they haven't continued it since coming into Carmilla's care. ABOUT There is a tree with a red sap. The sap, dried and burned and used as incense, is called dragon's blood. It is that for which Daemonorops is named. An apt name, really, given what he is. He had been one of the Seeping for a time, before he realised that as much as he loved his nature with his jewelled secretions of infection - it was the jewels he loved, not the virulency. Not that he isn't still virulent of course - he is incredibly so - but he is more contained these days, his infectiousness instead channelled towards creating his ideal form and maintaining it. Not jewels, no, but a red metallic form that cinnabar would be jealous of, a scarlet sheen alike to blood, alike to his own eyes, a frame to edge his wings and make him... Beautiful. He is so, isn't he? He preens in front of a mirror beside Dracaena, admiring their colours and conformation, admiring one another. They are beautiful, and beautiful as they wish to be. They might have frozen themselves into utter stillness to preserve that beauty, as Smoke had begun to - but then Carmilla had saved them all from such a terrible course of action. They are beautiful in motion, are they not? The the way the light shimmers off his neck as he turns his head, the way it glimmers in scarlet tints through the glassy panels of Dracaena's wings... All that beauty in motion would be lost if they froze themselves to stillness. What folly of theirs, what a shame to take that from the world! So they let Carmilla tease them and entertain them, and find their perches to adorn her. Dracaena is a brooch, pinned to the deep purple-black of Carmilla's shirt. The scarlet of her skin and the deep blue of her eyes match perfectly, and she is beautiful there. Smoke flits around, like their namesake - this day, a glittering adornment on Carmilla's antlers, the next day coiled around her wrist contrasting her pale skin. Daemonorops is a headpiece, usually, helping to clip the tiara and feathers together, to smooth the connection, a splash of dark red to deepen the tiara's paler crimson, the dark almost-black of his wing tassels linking so beautifully to the pitch of the feathers. Beautiful colours, altogether. A beautiful picture, beautiful as they should be. It is a good life they lead now. They have all that they need to be happy. RELATIONSHIPS
