Amelia was not always this way. In another time, another place, she took a different form - fulfilled a purpose with blind devotion. The place is long forgotten, her title and purpose washed away by countless years. Where she came from, why she left, and how she came to be are all gone from her memory, never to be recovered.

But she remembers some things.

She remembers the sting of smoke in her eyes and the feel of cold stone beneath her feet.

She remembers the chiming of bells and the smell of blood.

She remembers words, whispered in the dark by nameless mouths, hissing with hatred and sorrow for a sin committed:
