OOOMoth has always been drawn to a bright, burning truth.

OOOIn spite of the Guardian's arrogance, he has always carried an undeniable air of intelligence about him; insofar that many question why such an ambitious mind would squander his intellect in the vacuous pit of stagnation that is Lantern's Light. Perhaps that self-perpetuating arrogance is exactly the quality to answer such a question, but one would rarely find Moth wasting his precious time pondering the interest others take in his life and work. His work is for himself, after all; even those who could identify any semblance of a "friendship" with the Guardian aren't let in on whatever exactly those scientific endeavors are. The closest any have come is an odd scar here or there from Moth's promise of some degree of medical expertise; which, considering his lack of casualties from his crooked stitches, could certainly be worse.

OOOHowever, what can be said for certain is that, for all his independent efforts, Moth possesses no formal credentials. Any university would be far-fetched in Lantern's Light anyways, but, beyond that, his presumed orphanhood and early emancipation from the halfway house he grew up in left little room for proper academics. But he's always been smart; stand-offish, too, especially as he seemed to quickly tire of the younger and even the more uncouth company of his youth. And now, as an independent young adult, many older residents of Lantern's Light see the familiar softness of his face and stubbornness of his demeanor that imply a dragon still too immature to know how to move forward in the world.

OOOThough that's not to say that Moth has gone completely unchanged over the years.

OOOLarge patches of scarred, burned flesh mar the Guardian's entire body. Wholly scaleless areas of scar tissue, indicative of organic flame, lay interspersed between scales turned an unnatural, pigment-free platinum, forever growing back marked by the sorcerous forces which caused them. Such a dynamic, destructive combo of flames is highly unusual, not only due to their dual sources, but because the dragon who bears their marks is still alive. Alive, and awful used to it by now; as impatient as Moth is with everything else, he's doubly tired by the curiosity taken in his scars, dismissing their origin as something that "should be obvious." It's not.

OOOAnd so, scars and mind and all, Moth finds even his most remarkable attributes accounting for little more than personal pride, as he mostly sustains his income with the commonly practiced art of scavenging. Bizarre, some might say, as Moth is no stranger to using his handiwork and know-how to earn a more substantial living, but less obvious to the eye (or ears) is the Guardian's compulsive treasure-hoarding habit. Not the strangest quirk for an overthinking mind like his, of course, but- next to his tendency to always pay his taxes a few days early- a more complete picture begins to form whenever Moth flinches at even the slightest mention of the Burning City...
