Biography
...and still we dance our tale,
as restless creatures crowd below
the golden pool of light.
Hasharat
Lamplighter, Poet
Sepheres
[1 / 4 unexalted, 1 / 17 total]
Brisk flew Night when last she came
to rest beneath our waves.
And swifter still flew darkness black
held back behind her wings.
Her breath sent inky wind to cover
all our towns and meager lights.
And colder still her eyes like fish
did dart to find her prey.
Yet silken does the lamp-glow spread,
and still we dance our tale,
as restless creatures crowd below
the golden pool of light.
Sepheres and his scavenging quest
Dust his kingdom, barren now
I bade him come to me, to rest.
Circling winds did send him west
Myself as eyes he deigned allow
Sepheres and his scavenging quest
Empty barrens I could attest
No flowers bright nor green-leaved bough
I bade him come to me, to rest.
Onwards searched he, driving lest
Some other through the waste would plow
Sepheres and his scavenging quest
Days of seclusion I confessed
Wore thin and hard on faces dour
I bade him come to me, to rest.
Turn he did, and solemn professed
Let slide had he his lovers' vow
Sepheres and his scavenging quest
I bade him come to me, to rest.
[under construction]
Today I go to the sea to meander and to wander
I go to find fresh fish and shining ocean jewels
To seek my fortune told by many minds
And be tumbled smooth by many waves united in
their dancing game of wrath.
as restless creatures crowd below
the golden pool of light.
Hasharat
Lamplighter, Poet
|
Lamplighting was not Hasharat's first choice for how he planned to spend the rest of his days. He'd pictured something artistic, yet practical, like pottery or carpentry. He'd even, tucked away in the hidden corners of his mind, hoped for something completely self-indulgent, like poetry or acting. But after leaving the wasteland of his home, the financial straits he found himself in, although certainly not dire, were at least a bit pinched. The clan had no need for more artists. The ones it had apparently tended to the extravagant. So Hasharat had taken whatever employment he could get that would permit him full citizenship (and protection, of course), which guaranteed quarters, reliable pay, and some truly scintillating conversation over dinner. |
