Formed from the innate Lightning magic in the environment and the life energy of the living star Dragons Carneliae and Amnis in the lands of the Stormcatcher, it is no surprise that there's something special about this little Veilspun. He seems to possess a natural understanding of Automatons; both how to build them and how they use steam, magic, or various types of oil to function smoothly, seeing that he himself was created as a space-traveling half-mech. With an I.Q of 130, Idris surpasses Eri for the title of Norwal’s Most Intelligent Dragon; a title that he has had since he arrived in Norwal fresh from the lands of the Stormcatcher.

Such a high intelligence coupled with the mind control ability of his kind has come together to create a crafty, manipulative Dragon in social settings; often trying to verbally persuade others to do his mundane work and errands for him while he stays behind in his workshop to work on the various half-finished mechs that litter the assembly room (that he had a group of passing Snappers and Obelisks that he came across help him build after some careful verbal manipulation).

The only dragon to resist this male's charm and mind control magic is Tropicalia and the fact that she appeared to naturally do so drives Idris crazy to the point to try to claim her as his mate. After lavish gifts, sweet words, and even mental control failed to woo Tropicalia, Idris resulted to taking the Forest Nymph Sika as his mate with the now fading hope that Sika would make Tropicalia jealous. While Tropicalia may have liked Idris at one time, any possibility has long since passed with each of Idris' desperate attempts to court her. No matter how many times other Dragons tell him that she isn't interested (and never will be), Idris yells at them for trying to discourage him and that she's just "playing hard to get" and that he'll "win her over in no time at all". Every female Dragon (and most male Dragons) that hear this belief are left disgusted with the male Veilspun and shun him as a result; leaving Idris with no friends in and around Norwal.

Work wise, he used to exchange ideas and tips with Levin and her assistant Galia before they heard his thoughts of Tropicalia. Left with nothing to do but work on his own automatons (and sell the ones that he finished constructing and testing), he will also make any needed repairs on Eri as well.
