In a shallow cavern along the cliffs of Light’s shores, a lone standard flies, sun-bleached banner fluttering softly in the salty ocean breeze. Its gilded pole juts from the ground at an odd angle, though whether it has always been like this, or it has been felled by the sands of both sea and time, one cannot say. Ragged threads and small scraps of fabric dangle off of the tattered banner, not quite ready to let go yet. The smaller ones dance in the breeze almost playfully, dragging one’s eye, and enticing the gaze towards their longer siblings wrapped around the pole, to follow the strands as the wind their way down the gilded pole. Around and around; Lower and lower. And lower…

And Lower…

And… Leather?

Near the bottom of the golden pole, secured tightly by a black leather belt, is an old, leather-bound journal. The heavily scratched blue-black cover sandwiches yellowed pages, and the entire journal is edged in flaking gold paint. The book appears to be heavily water damaged, as though it was submerged in the ocean, while also having more than a few scorch marks. Yet, unlike the ragged, weather-torn material fluttering above it, the journal seems relatively untouched by time. There is magic at work here. Perhaps, after having their journal damaged enough, the previous owner finally decided to have it enchanted, but why would they leave it here if they cared so much for it? No, something else must be preventing it from coming to harm.
