Biography

Luck

Shadow Rep
Luck is the youngest of the flight represents. He had a pretty happy life back in shadow, living with his parents sneaking around in the shadows. He went unnoticed, there was nothing special about him. Well yes, he had goat eyes but that wasn't special. He had two older brothers who had special eyes, one who had goat and one who had facet. They were weak and lived with other flights, but that didn't make them special. He liked his life. He liked the way he could slip so easily through the brambles, he liked the way he could melt into any shadow, he liked the way that the shadows seemed to reach out to greet him. Life was perfect. Until one day he slipped his way right into another clan's home. It was greatly lit with orange flames and the light burned his eyes. Everywhere he looked was golden and bright. No shadows to rest and hide in. He had screamed and flopped around on the grass (he was quite dramatic) drawing a rather big crowd. His claws were covering his eyes as he continued to squirm. It felt like each scale was being set on fire. There was some loud yelling and bracket sounds.

"MOVE! MOVE OUT OF THE WAY." 6 dragons rushed from the shadowy forest and pushed away the crowd of bright eyed dragons. They swiftly surrounded luck squirming on the floor. Cool-leathery wings wrapped around his body and luck instantly felt the pain seep away. He didn't dare pull the claws from his eyes for he still could feel the tingly-warmth. "Sorry for his intrusion but we will be on our way." A male voice spoke, his voice was smooth but assertive. Luck felt himself lifted up and carried, then he felt a wave of peace and relief. The cool wings unwrapped and he was set down on the forest floor. He took his claws away from his eyes and blinked a few times. They stung a bit but he could see the 6 dragons around him. Two were his parents, looking peeved and annoyed, two were his brothers, and two were dragons he never met before. One was a female veil and the other was a male nocturne. He guessed that the female veil was the one who had put her wings on him as she was the closest.

"Luck! What the HECK were you thinking?? You crossed into light territory and then decide to make a HUGE scene. You could have gotten yourself KILLED." His mother's brows were furrowed and her words were sharp. Though she expressed anger there was an anxiety waltzing about in her eyes. It was present in his father's eyes and his brothers as well.

Luck blinked. Light territory? He had been in shadow territory? When did he cross? "I-i didn't mean to. I didn't see anything, it looked as though I was still in shadow territory." He finished talking when the burning sensation peeled across his scales again and he clenched his jaw. His eyes squeezed tight hoping the pain would go but it didn't. The burning swirled and crashed around, it drowned out everything. He felt no other sensations just the pain.

He could tell he got picked up and he heard the yelling of the dragons but they sounded like mere whispers. The burning was like roaring in his ears and no matter what he did it would not go away. It felt like eons had gone past before the pain subsided. Tingles crawled around on his scales but the pain was no more. It was incredible silent. No hum of the forest. No roaring. No yelling. Silence.

He thought to open his eyes but worried that if he did this the pain would come back. If he tried to move his claw would the pain come back? So he did not move. He kept as still as he could. His breathing was shallow but he did not want to feel that again.

Then he heard hushed voices. Just a few. There was a low-female voice, the voices of his parents, and a sweeter sounding voice. The voices died down and a door creaked open. It sounded old and like it was made of rotting wood. That perhaps the hinges that held it up were rusted. A dragon stepped in, their claws tapping on cold stone. They were careful steps but Luck could tell it was a larger dragon. He listened as the dragon neared and he did his best not to flinch. The dragon carefully touched his claw. No pain. No nothing. He felt the buzzing sensation locate to his claw but he couldn't feel the touch. He just knew it was there.

"Hello little one, how do you feel?" It was the low-female voice. She had a silky foggy like voice, it felt comforting and filled the silence he felt. He didn't want to reply, talking caused the pain to happen again. "Don't worry about the pain, it will not come back." She spoke again. He didn't want to trust her but there was something enchanting about her voice so he spoke.

His voice croaked at first, "I feel nothing but tingles and buzzing. I feel silence." His voice was shaky and the words caught in his throat but they broke out eventually. The dragon gently squeezed his claw some more, the buzzing became faster and tighter in his claws.

"Ah, that is all normal. You may open your eyes if you would like, I have you in a dark cave with no light accept those from my scales." He wasn't sure if he should trust her, what if there was a light and it would kill him, but again there was a calling he felt to listen to her. So he cracked his eyes open. She was right, they were in a very dark cave and the only light came from her. It wasn't a bright light, it was more like a glow, but it still casted colors around the room. He squinted to tell what it was but that strained his eyes.

"Don't push yourself. You'll heal faster if you take it slow." Luck studied the shape of the dragon, it was a large dragon though her voice did not give that away. She looked like an imperial but the shape of her melted with the shadows. "I'm Dairo, your parents brought you to me so I could heal you." He listened to her voice and could tell she had broken into a slight smile.

"Why didn't they take me to our clan healers?" Luck whispered feeling this was best for his voice.

"I think that is best for them to tell you, but you must promise me to not force yourself to sit up when they tell you." Dairo creaked the door open and Luck shut his eyes. There was no light from that direction but he was nervous still. He listened as his parents shuffled in.

"So Luck...we probably should have told you this a while ago but you're not normal. No shadow dragon really is "normal." But your difference stands out quite a bit." It was his father who spoke first, in a low voice. It was nervous and unsteady. Luck almost rolled his eyes, as if he was not normal. They all seemed pretty normal. Accept Dairo, she had an odd feeling about her.

"Were serious Luck. No other dragon can slip into shadows like you can, no other dragon heals in shadows, and no other dragon controls shadows." His Mother paused but Luck's heart had already dropped, he nearly leapt up but he felt chained to wherever he lay. His muscles clenched as his father continued.

"Son, you were born in shadows during a lunar eclipse. At the peak time where the moon was completely covered and there you hatched, in complete darkness. You were the last of your siblings. Your brothers both hatched before you. At night they reflect night but you reflect the darkness." His father stopped so his mother continued but Luck's head was beginning to swirl.

"I think Dairo would be best to explain the next part." Dairo shifted back into the room, he could tell by the dim soft glow. "Before I say the rest please take a sip of this." She lifted something to his lips and he drank, it rushed down his throat like a rushing river and brought clarity to his mind. "Any shadow dragon has to get used to sunlight for not one beam ever pierces the coverage that shadow territory has, but to you that sun is as bright as a million suns. Unfortunately for you, that brightness is also amped up in light territory where you happen to slip into unnoticed. Shadows tend to follow you around in darker places but in a place like that they cease so you were thrown out into a world of blinding light. But what is interesting is the pain it caused your scales. There is no real rhyme or reason why it did so but I would guess that the darkness of your hatching created scales that were sensitive to light. The second wave of pain you felt was the same pain, it may have subsided at first but it was like the light traveled into your veins." Dairo stopped. All her words were clear and made sense but Luck was still horribly confused.

"We brought you to Dairo because the healers back at home didn't know what the heck was going on and we didn't want to tell them about you." His mother's voice was barely a whisper.

"Back at home?!" Luck's voice cracked, was he not in shadow territory?

"Dairo lives in a nature clan." Luck's head swirled again. He had somehow traveled all the way to nature clan without knowing of it. He never had stepped a claw off of shadow territory but somehow he had managed to do it twice in one day. "But, Dairo is able to heal your scales and will help you recover. You will be able to rejoin us back at home once your back in good shape."

"But- I don't want to stay here!" He did his best to raise his voice but it just slightly cracked into normal volume.

"You don't have a choice! You have to." His mother's voice was stern. "We must be going now before day breaks, we love you Luck." His parents walked out of the room and he felt the silence once more.

"Rest easy now Luck, I will talk to you again in the morning." Dairo closed the door and left Luck back to the silence. The buzzing was spaced out all around his claws and he felt like he would never be able to sleep in the silence but he dozed off quite fast.

He woke up in the morning to Dairo placing cold rags on his scales. The buzzing of his scales were under the rags but the buzzing was less and he could feel more things. Like the wet-gooey feeling of the rags. He could tell he was on some kind of leaves now, they were leathery but not uncomfortable. He blinked his eyes open and found he could open them more now. He looked around the cave and could now distinguish Dairo better. He couldn't tell what genes she had but on her wings were the glowing things. It was hypnotic like purple and blue eyes that looked like they vibrated but not at the same time. He wanted to find this eerie but it was almost comforting. But he also wasn't sure if the eyes could actually see.

"Good morning little one. I see you must be feeling better." Luck thought for a second and agreed that her phrase seemed to fit. He was feeling better, literally. He could feel more things. Luck nodded.

"Would you like to eat breakfast? My mate made some delicious lucky star oatmeal." Luck hesitate but found that his stomach felt like an empty pit.

"I would love some."

"I'm going to carry you to our dining area but do not be afraid, the only light there is a small jar of firebugs." Luck let her pick him up and he watched as he was carried out of the cave. The small cave opened into a tall-wide hallway very dimly lit by some blue glowing bugs in a jar. He flinched preparing for the pain but he felt none.

"Are you okay?" Dairo looked down, her eyes were soft. He nodded. She carried him out into a large room that had a few tunnels going off but this area was quite big and was full of furniture and such. Off to the side was a window in the wall and door that seemed to lead into a kitchen. In front of this window was a dark wood table where another spiral was sat eating. He had a covering over his eyes but he looked up at them as they approached. On one of the other sides of the table was the female veil from when Luck was rescued. She was enjoying a small bowl of the oatmeal herself. She looked up when she heard them coming and seemed quite happy. She picked up another bowl and filled it with the oatmeal and set it at the spot beside her. Dairo set Luck down very carefully and he curled up on the long bench like seat he was placed on. The veil set the bowl down on the bench so he could easily eat it and she smiled at him again. He did his best to smile back but wasn't sure if he quite had done it. She went back to eating but looked over at him a few more times before he decided to eat. The clovers were scrumptious and reminded him of the Lucky star steak his dad would make. He ate it all quite fast, Dairo had barely eaten a bite when he softly asked for another bowl. The veil served him some more but he ate it more carefully this time. The other spiral and Dairo talked in really soft voices. He tried to listen but wasn't even sure if it was dragon language. The veil seemed to be just as confused.

"Would you like another serving?" She looked down surprising Luck slightly (as he realized he was accidentally staring). She was the one with the sweeter voice, it was like a lovely mushroom honey drink. He blushed.

"Oh, i'm good. This oatmeal was really tasty." He thanked the spiral for the oatmeal who gave him a nod and that was all. He looked back at the veil. "Are you injured too?" She giggled.

"No, I was just worried and offered to help keep an eye on you. You would need a guide back to shadow anyway when you are ready to go." She smiled a sly smile and finished her oatmeal. "I'm Wisteria by the way." Luck greeted her.

Luck hesitated but he had a burning question. "My parents said no shadow dragon is normal, so what makes you two," he looked at Dairo and Wisteria both having purple eyes, "different?"

"Well I can make my lower half of my body invisible!" Wisteria said and pointed down towards her legs, which were completely gone. So she was a floating bust of a dragon. Smoke was curling around her claws. When she stopped her lower-half from being invisible the smoke disappeared. "The smoke kind of happens whenever I do any sort of magic. I can also do simple like magic tricks." She pulled a rabbit from underneath the table which immediately fainted from fear. Luck looked over at Dairo who had just finished whispering with the spiral.

"Well I am sure you have noticed the eyes by now. They can't actually see nor do they do anything else really. I have other general magic but I don't need to explain that to you." Luck was sure she had more, like some sort of magic persuasion but he had doubt that she really had magic persuasion at the same time."

"and what about them?" Dairo looked at the spiral.

"Oh! This is Moondance. He does not speak," which Luck probably figured he meant that he doesn't speak to other dragons, "not does he feel comfortable sharing his powers." Luck understood but also was horribly curious but knew he shouldn't be. Moondance got up and left the table without a word all of a sudden and flew off down a tunnel. Luck and Wisteria made eye contact but shrugged it off.

[As time went on]

Luck soon was able to flew and walk on his own again. He hadn't left the cave yet but today was the day. Dairo was instructing Wisteria on what to do if Luck had any problems but Dairo was confident that nothing would actually happen. Luck's heart was pounding fast and the anxiety was eating him. He wanted to see the clan's territory so bad but was very nervous about the light. Dairo had assured him that though their was more light in nature that there were plenty of shadows and wasn't as bright as light territory. Wisteria stood at his side and then lifted off, he followed in pursuit. Wisteria pushed open the heavy curtain that covered the entrance of the cave and light already shone through. It was a different light than what he was used to and it made him stagger in his flight. Wisteria was at his side in a heart-beat helping him up. He carefully opened his eyes again and they adjusted. He thanked her and looked around. The world was VERY green. Shockingly green. He had never seen so much green before. He gawked as he looked around. There were so many flowers in different colors and each one had its one tone that slightly stung his eyes but he almost couldn't look away.

"Isn't it gorgeous? Never would have thought there were so many shades of greens." Wisteria guided Luck to a nice shaded spot so he could rest. He loved the feeling of the fluffy moss under his scales and the way air smelt sweet. He missed the glowing light of shadow territory but there was so much more variety here. They flew around some more adventuring not too far from the cave but enough to where they met another dragon. It was a gigantic pink shiny imperial. He had many layers and even had faeries floating about him. He winked at the two dragons and smiled.

"Is this the one you've been telling me about Wisteria?" His voice was lower than Dairo's but not enough to be a grumble. Wisteria blushed but Luck didn't catch it.

"Yup! He's finally strong enough to leave the cave."

"Well Hello! I'm Amor, the masseuse of the clan. Its nice to finally meet you Luck." Luck smiled and waved unsure what to say. His clan didn't have friendly people at all. They stayed in their own bubble. Amor was the only dragon that Luck met that day but in the weeks to come he met Nicia, a lovely shiny purple dragon whose magic had turned into a curse for her sadly but she was happy with where she was. He learned about the clan's story and met the leaders eventually. He also met the clan representatives, which he knew existed but didn't actually know what they did. They were all lovely dragons, maybe accept Korra, she seemed to be peeved all the time. He enjoyed hanging out with Nicia and Wisteria the most.

Though when it was time for Luck to head back home his heart ached and feared heading back. He loved Hibiscus Clan and felt that he could not leave it. He expressed his feelings to Wisteria who in return gave him a brilliant idea.

"I feel the same way. I love everyone here, Dairo has given us such a nice home and I feel like the people actually LIKE me here. There isssss an open spot on the flight reps spot for a shadow rep. I know you have no experience but I think your powers are very shadow representative and would be a good rep." Luck loved the idea so he and wisteria sent a letter back home to his parents and then the shadow council. His parents hated the idea but the council thought it was best as they were in search of a shadow rep for there, so Luck listened to the council.

Nicia gave Wisteria a home in the ancients cave (so that Dairo and Moondance could have that room back) and Luck was given a room up in the reps landing. He tried to get close to Zephyr, hoping that they would connect on a spiral level but she was always changing like the wind. He ended up became close friends with Freckle but became even closer friends with Wisteria who is now his mate. They are unable to have kids but that is fine with them both.
