______ Ari is typically quieter than most of the witches within the lair, but they are alike in that they are a powerful magic user, and they hold many dark secrets. Despite having several nests and raising several hatchlings with their mate, Nightball, they do not love him, and never did. The only reason they even chose Nightball in the first place was out of perceived “necessity.” When the two have a nest, Nightball leaves Ari to do all the egg keeping and hatchling rearing, as he would much rather devote his time and attention to counting all the gold and treasure in his hoard. This leaves Ari extremely drained of their energy whenever they have the overwhelming responsibility of raising hatchlings. They don’t dare ask for help from Nightball either, as it would result in getting a stern scolding from him, followed by a barked demand to “work faster” or “see if you can’t get me any more gold ingots from the treasury.” Ari has only told their closest friends, Sadiel and Unaella, as well as their sister Becky about how Nightball treats them. While their friends offer to help them whenever possible with the hatchlings, they admit there is not much else they can do. More than anything however, Ari secretly yearned for the kind of love she would never find with Nightball, nor with any other man for that matter. They found that love with Delilah, a traveler in search of collecting odd trinkets from wherever she visited. Although they were close companions, Ari never mustered the courage to confess their feelings for her before she left. They didn’t even have the courage to give her a gift and request that she write them, and instead used Sadiel as a proxy for that gift and request.

______ Ari and their sister Becky were both born as middle-class citizens within the “Kingdom of Gold.” Ever since birth, the two had to learn to fend for themselves since their parents were not interested in caring for them. While they didn’t have it as hard as those within the lower class, children of higher classes would often pick on them since they were not Imperials or children of one. Ari would usually hide behind Becky, who had learned to fight and would defend her sister when there was need. Seeing that their children were unhappy, their parents sent them far away to live with a new clan who had newly settled within the Rotrock Rim. There, NightProwler raised the two sisters as if they were his own children, finally getting the love and nourishment they needed in order to become strong and healthy adult dragons. While Becky learned to cope with their past by training and fighting, Ari learned to heal by reading many of the old scrolls and manuscripts stored within the lair’s library. By harnessing light magic, Ari discovered that even in her darkest hour, there can still be light.

Q: What are your thoughts on the plague flight?
The Scarred Wasteland is a pretty unwelcoming place, and a lot of plague dragons seem kind of scary, but some of them are nice.
Q: How did you join our clan?
My sister and I were sent here by our parents. Since we were still hatchlings, NightProwler continued to raise us the way our parents could not.
Q: What are your thoughts on our clan?
Some of the dragons in our clan seem pretty mean and scary, but a few of them are nice.
Q: What are your thoughts on Emperors?
They’re really creepy. I don’t like the thought of them even one little bit.
