Role: Haelyne (Hay-leen) lurks in the world between dreaming and sleep; the forgotton moment when you feel your mind slip away. They are not a guide, nor are they needlessly cruel. Rather they clean up those who become stuck in the limited space, for the realm of half-dreams is very small, and even a single lost dragon can clutter it. Be kind to them if you should see them, flitting on the edge of your vision as you drift; you have already upset them by lingering, and they are unlikely to allow you back through his world again if you anger them further. Personality and Relationships: Haelyne is alone in their liminal space, but they have many visitors; in fact, they have met every creature to ever live. They do not want for anything, nor need it. They just exist, feeling the fleeting emotions of each encounter that they learned from their guests.

History:

Haelyne was born from the first living being to fall asleep, and has existed with fair consistency ever since. They have no true form, but the imaginations of the living have offered some suggestions; the blurred final images before unconsciousness, half-seen vines and blurred darkness take on new shape when left to the imagination. The distant hoots of owls and buzzing insects surround them in an ever-changing drone. In truth, it is uncertain if they truly exist as something separate to the half-dream. This has not stopped their tale from being told, in thousands of different iterations that only share the common theme of seeing a strange figure in the moment before sleep. Haelyne is only one of many names, this one spoken within the confines of the Froslands. There, the Frosfoen speak of a misty Veilspun between the trees, waiting to drag them into sleep. They blame them for both coma and insomnia, and though Haelyne is often innocent, the stories are not always wrong.
