chronological order

-Tanifka hatches. (T=0) (early spring)

-Gidannok's father's parents hatch. (T = 5)

-Tanifka, 6 years old, meets Gidannok's father's parents as hatchlings and plays with them. (T=6.5, Ggp = 1.5 eq. 6)

-Kita hatches. (T=9) (early winter)

-Gidannok's parents hatch. (T = 12)

-The nesting parents and guards of the dragon clan fly to their traditional nesting spot, Sunset Plains, five miles away from the outskirts of the harpy village. (late spring) (T = 16)

-Gidannok's egg is laid, along with two other guardian eggs and three banescale eggs in a six-egg nest. (early summer) (T = 16)

-Two months later, Gidannok's egg rolls away from a gust of wind and falls into a small hole in the grass. It could easily be mistaken for some pebbles in the grass. (late summer) (T = 16)

-In Sunset Plains: A huge rainstorm causes a hill to collapse and a tree to fall. The dragons search for a new nesting spot, and find a suitable one one mile away from the outskirts of the harpy village. They name it Sheltergrass Ridge. When Gidannok's parents fly there, they only bring five of their six eggs. (late winter) (T = 16)

-A few harpies sight the dragons in the sky, including Tanifka and Kita. It wasn't officially announced, however. (late winter)

-A Pearlcatcher counts all the eggs and finds that Gidannok's mother's nest has only five eggs. The Pearlcatcher shows Gidannok's parents the records. They at first don't believe that their nest had six eggs. Eventually, they believe it and they go back to Sunset Plains to search for it. They cannot find it, and they are all convinced that there was never a sixth egg. (late winter)

-Tanifka is preparing for her Grownday, the celebration of a harpy's 17th birthday. (early spring) (T =16)

-The harpies are preparing for the spring festival in one month. (early spring)

-Some harpies discover the dragons' nesting site and tell the leader. The leader announces it. (early spring)

-Tanifka has her Grownday. (early spring) (T = 17)

-The harpies celebrate the Spring Festival. (mid spring) (T = 17)

-The wise harpy tells a group of harpies, including Tanifka and Kita, to go out and search the dragons' nesting site for any eggs they can find, and gives them a map. They are confused but oblige. (mid spring)

-The group finds only one egg. It is huge; at least a few hundred pounds, and six feet tall. They cannot carry it for long together and bicker over why they didn't bring a wagon. Kita tells them to push the egg onto its side and roll it. Gidannok, inside the egg, feels like he is flying. The egg rolls down the slope quickly. When it stops, one of the harpies offers her cloak to wrap the egg in so it doesn't get damaged when it rolls.

-They arrive back at the wise harpy's house where the egg is taken to a room where a mother harpy has offered to incubate it along with her eggs.

-Meanwhile, the harpies in the village have decided that they will lure the dragons away with a pile of fish and making the wind blow away from the village.

-The dragons were already missing their clan, and decided they would choose a day to return all the eggs to a nesting spot much closer to their clan's territory. Upon seeing the fish and feeling the wind, they decide to leave that day. (mid spring)

-The dragon egg hatches. The dragon weighs about 80 kg and is about 8.5 ft or 2.5 m long. Kita is excited. Later, she asks her mother for a slice of berry pie to be the dragon's first meal.

-A few days later, Kita is wondering about names for the dragon and settles on Gida'n Nok; Kita's Dragon.
