A hulking presence of a robot sat in a mechanical shop surrounded by what can only be described as a mess of plans of various machinery, a smaller robot sitting on her shoulder. They sat in silence for a while, before the little one lifted one of the plans up and made a series of beeps.
“No, we can’t dismantle the radio tower, it would make our attempts to contact anyone out there even more futile,” replied the larger robot, circuits of gold and lead faintly glowing against the dimness of the workshop. The smaller one protested with more beeping.
“You know that I agree with you, nobody is coming for us. But I can’t take apart our only chance. Charlie seems to think someone will come eventually and we must just hold out until then. Easier said than done with all the rust creeping in and no spares in store, but there must be something, anything, left in this damned town that we can strip for useful parts,” she said, once again returning to studying plan after plan, the smaller droid beeping in agreement.
