Scabiosa stirred within the Forbidden Graveyard when Gladioli called, her plea echoing throughout their realm. A sweet siren song that Scabiosa could not resist. She had called upon aid from the Fates and Scabiosa, steady and curious Scabiosa, stepped through the Veil for her.

He adorned the same mortal shape as she, shedding the ghastly form he'd worn in the Graveyard with a shudder, and the wild winds had whispered playfully to him as they danced through the thick coat of his new body. It was so entirely different to what he'd always known.

For Scabiosa, no matter that he'd always kept his silence in the Graveyard, had yearned for change. He'd slumbered beneath the great willows, watched the Soulsparks drift towards the skies, and been unfulfilled.

The shadows of the Beyond followed him as he drifted over the frozen grounds of the Waking Plane, stretching and coiling around his clawed feet, and disappearing into his own shadow when he wished it. When he called upon them, they shielded his mortal form from view.

Most Flowers have their own special kind of soul they're drawn to, a particular flavor that rings true to them more than the rest.

For Scabiosa, it is the frightened ones that call to him. He'll seek them out within the shadow, will coax hesitant laughs and shy smiles from them, and soothe their troubled minds with some good, old fashioned nonsense. It's what he does best- he'll reach into the shadows where he thrives and gently extract those that clearly do not belong and should not be there.

His bright flowers are excellent as he maneuver the darkest corners around. The youngest souls tend to be particularly fascinated with them, and it absolutely makes his job easier, and it is not uncommon to find seemingly random clusters of snowy, humming flowers in the deepest of caves or forgotten corners of the world. Scabiosa leaves his mark in places few would ever traverse nor see, the souls he shepherds so very opposite of his own, and he takes great pride in it all.

For not all dragons would ever willingly take on the pain and suffering of so many terrified souls. The Flowers often feel it all as they usher souls along, so seeking out those that have it worst is no easy task.

And Scabiosa knows that if it weren't for the playful winds and giggling streams hiding within the dark where only he could reach, it would have been so much more difficult. Their job is not easy, and he knew it would not be when the Fates called upon them, but he knows it is worth it. If even a single soul passes through the Veil with a smile, then all the suffering in the world could not stop him.

Dark Touch

» Scabiosa's talent lies nigh on exclusively in his affinity to darkness. He controls shadows and weave them into the fabric of the Veil, using it in surprisingly creative ways to achieve whatever goals he sets himself.

» This is also his favorite way to travel. Fading into the shadows and hopping from one darkened corner to the next is both quick, discreet, and offers excellent opportunity to frighten someone upon exiting the shadows again- which is always a plus!

Breaths of Beneath

» Bright Sight goes hand in hand with Scabiosa's tendency to linger in the shadows. No matter how dark it is, he can see everything clearly, and nothing can hide from his gaze. To some extent, it also allows him to peer through the Veil itself.

» Seeing so much, however, does have it's drawbacks. The world tends to be a little washed out and bland, and very bright days can be downright painful, and Scabiosa tends to stick to coming out at night to ensure he doesn't accidentally blind himself.
