The villagers do not know of this one, but you are certain this one makes the screams.
It keeps close to the village, making depressed calls as it stalks the tree line- only at night.
It's underbelly is exposed, rotting guts hanging out as it moves; bloody bandages are the only thing that hold it together.
As you watch it, a small cat- someone's pet, probably- walks towards the woods.
The imperial- you think, it has the long form of one- starts to make meowing noises, and the cat changes courses towards it.
As it's paw crosses into the shadowy terrain of the woods, a spear you did not know the thing had shoots through the cat, lifting it up, and the imperial opens it's mouth.
You turn away, wincing as you hear the cat devoured noisily.
