As a Bogsneak dragon, Lupa has no flight allegiance from his breed. His species was born from the depths of a cauldron, and though he hails from the Starfall Isles himself, he has never felt at home among the craggy magical lands. No, there was one place that always seemed to call to Lupa, far off from his birth clan. The Viridian Labyrinth, region of the Gladekeeper and all things nature. Though Lupa had never visited such a place, it sounded like home.
It took many years before Lupa was finally brave enough to travel the land and arrive at the grand forests of the Labyrinth, but when he did, he was astounded. The trees stretched far overhead, hosting a cacophony of songbirds, lizards, and even monkeys. The ground was covered in fine grass, moss, and a tangle of bushes, which hardly stopped Lupa from exploring. As the day got later and later, Lupa found himself deeper and deeper in the forest. Just when he feared he would be lost among the trees, he stumbled upon a strange ruin. Built of crumbling stone dusted with moss and lichen, it seems long abandoned and quite empty, but something called Lupa closer. As he approached, he felt as if the ground below him was stirring, though he couldn’t quite tell why. Once he stepped upon the cracked stone flooring, it became clear. In a flash of light, a creature appeared before him, wings flared in a grand gesture. It was a Hippojay, perhaps twice the size of the average of its species, staring at him with… pride? It cocked its head, slowly approaching him and nudging his paw lightly. After a moment, Lupa brushed back the feathers on its head and was rewarded with a happy chirp. From there, a friendship quickly bloomed. Though the Hippojay would always return to the ruins at night, it followed Lupa about the forest during the day, often showing him interesting and frankly incredible places along the way. They visited hidden waterfalls and submerged forests, climbed among the willow trees, and loped among the thinner outer edges of the Labyrinth. Wherever Lupa decides to explore next, he knows his new friend will be by his side. |
