bio.
was once a mortal dragon who went by a different name and was the daughter of a high-profile noble family with a very profitable farming estate in the Light Kingdom. as an only child, it was expected that she would take ownership of the business once she came of age. however, when she debuted as an adult in high society, there were many a suitor who took a liking to her -- either for her beauty or her wealth. one suitor in particular wielded immense social power and with enough monetary pressure, convinced her parents to have them be wed.

refusing to be pressured into marriage and lose her inheritance to an unwanted spouse, she fled overseas. she had almost made it to freedom before the ship capsized fully, taking her life with it. a council member presiding over the area witnessed this injustice and sought to rectify it. she planted the remnants of daphne's soul and imbued the soil with an otherworldly power. it took many, many years before a thin tree sprouted it up. it was a sacred tree, with smooth bark and golden leaves unlike anything that could be found in the mortal realm. from this tree, daphne's soul could take physical form.

unwillingly made into a tree nymph, daphne had all the freedom in the world to do as she wished. she returned to her homeland, seeking to return to her estate and her family only to find the area completely abandoned. nothing but ruins greeted her upon return; after all, many years had passed since she revived. for all her freedom, daphne had nothing and no one. although she has had many years to come to terms with her situation, she still struggles with her grief, wandering aimlessly throughout sornieth and cursing the starling who so drastically altered the course of her life.
