Murphy had only heard rumors about all his supposed family members from his mother, but he can’t really be sure of them—Gengyar couldn’t possibly have such a large and vast lineage, couldn’t he? One day, though, he decided to venture out and determine for himself whether these stories of a supposedly giant lineage were true... and whether he could meet a family member or something, he didn’t know. Unfortunately, he’s also known for his horrendous luck: anything that could happen around him would indeed happen, inevitably. He’s not sure why this is so, but he’s taken to carrying a four-leaf clover on his body at all times—not that it seems to stop or even mitigate the bad luck. He rarely tries to stay in one place for too long, afraid that the collateral damage would hurt innocents; thus, he wanders from place to place, seeking his supposed long-lost relatives.

In his travels, Murphy wandered into the deserts of the Shifting Expanse, following whispers on the wind; he had heard rumors of Gengyar descendants around the region. Unfortunately, as soon as he set foot in the hot desert, he felt dissuaded from exploring the region due to the intense heat and aridity, and would’ve turned back if it weren’t for a certain Imperial who found him along his usual supply and patrol routes.

Murphy explained his situation to the Imperial, named Stellaris, who agreed to help him. He was taken to Clan Stryker, where he was permitted to question the clan members. There were no Gengyar descendants here, as it turned out, although he was told several had passed by here for various reasons, some also looking for long-lost relatives. The Skydancer wondered whether it was his luck that caused these travelers to come by here; probably not, but why weren’t there any here when he came along?

On the other hand, though, that pretty much proved there were other Gengyar descendants out there; and some of them were searching for dragons like him! What were the odds?

Unfortunately, Murphy tripped on a banana peel on his way out, despite the definite lack of bananas in the Shifting Expanse; his strange luck was starting to catch up to him, and Murphy decided to leave the clan as fast as he came.
