The trees here are dense, hard to navigate around, and overall terrible for stealth. Monsters and beats roam. Their breathing and vocalisations blend into the daily rumblings of a hungry jungle. From above the old oak tree, bent by the uncaring forces of the unknown, I hear it all. From beneath the moon-washed water surface, I see it all. In one of my past lives, perhaps I was a pet bird. Loved and shackled by someone who would become my world. They clipped my wings as I tried to fly away. In another one, I was a peony tree, envied by ivies. I was choked, my bodies shielded away from the sun, and I crumbled. In my most recent, I rose from the corpse of whoever it was that in the centre of an ironically-named island. It was then that the cycle started. Sunlight hurts. It blazes my skin, revealing me to the multi-coloured cloud. The Hut does not have a roof. It wants to be drunk by the heavens. There are several dragons in there, and they all pray. I always come back. Whole. Emerged from the core of the Island as a single Being. Someone tried to make me die permanently. I could not. He tore into me, ripped pieces of me apart, in an anger-filled stupor of pure hubris. He could not. He then subjected me to what he deemed the worst that any dragon could endure without dying. I died anyway, and I was “resetted”. He was mad. And within madness was incomprehensible pain. And desire. I bruised his soul by refusing to die, and I spat on his nerves by dying when he wanted my suffering to be eternal. Yet somehow, from where I stood on the top of the Treasury that night, I saw him escape. Strange. I want to see him again, even just to laugh at his desperately-denied obsession. Petulant one. Thinking of himself as cold and ruthless, yet he is merely a child justifying his senseless, puerile sadism. |

? ? ? ? ? ? ? The woman who loves to sit on the edge of madness asked me if I want to finish this scroll. I said sure. I’m not entirely privy to what the purpose of this is until she explained to me that Celestian Hall requested it. What? Why should I care about them? They don’t know that I exist. I once demanded Tri Dao describe what I looked like in their eyes. They said that I was not always there. I could only be seen if they directly looked in my direction. My hair blended into the sunlight in the most optically illusory way. My clothes were nondescript, and my features were plain and pale. My footsteps were impossibly quiet as if I could only float. My whole Being was transparent. I asked, then why, oh why could I be important to somebody. Why could someone even tell me I was beautiful? They said maybe I was beautiful the way a piece of crystal was. They could not elaborate further. What kind of existence do I lead? Every space I occupy is paradoxical. I am simultaneously featureless and the muse of someone’s outlet. I am utterly meaningless in the grand scheme of things and have changed the course of the martial arts world. Death is just as familiar to me as breakfast, yet I never really care for it, and it is my greatest weapon. I have not been in this world for long. Tịch Phương said I would go insane come a hundred years or two, especially when, as I am currently, I stand on the edge of history, never noticed or recorded. She said that she would not want to see me die, but it was imperative that I were to die. My greatest enemy, my greatest affection, would love to see me breathe my last breath, as long as it is under his hands. He would also want me to live forever, as long as it is by his side. Neither of those is going to happen. The thought simply amuses me, and I think he’s already had a taste of that. No need to be greedy. |
