A young magical prodigy, Mordu is a tremendously talented but very shy and hesitant young dragon. Formally named Mordechai but rarely going by anything other than Mordu, he is known as one of the most promising young magicians in Jǫtunheimr Hall...as well as for his predilection to not be able to allow any mysteries or curiosities to pass him by, often getting himself into trouble. Most dragons around Home know him as an amazingly skilled young magician who has the potential to be something truly amazing - if only he could stop second-guessing himself for long enough.

- Biography
Orphaned from a young age, Mordu came to Home as a very young hatchling. He started displaying magical ability at a far younger age than most dragons, and he was the bane of Home's magic professors for quite a while because it was difficult to nail down just what was going on with him. Eventually, it was discovered that Mordu is actually a rare cross-Flight magician, and what's more, his magic is not Water but Arcane. Cross-Flight magicians are rare for a reason, as they are often sickly and rarely survive their earliest hatchling days, and cross-Flight Arcane magicians are virtually unheard of. Though Mordu is indeed rather sickly, he is much stronger now as a young adult than he was as a hatchling, and he is determined to prove himself.

- Life at Home
A quiet, shy, and aloof young dragon, Mordu has few close friends but remains rather popular thanks to his earnest and genuine nature. His lack of confidence in his ability makes him more down-to-earth than many of his hallmates in Jǫtunheimr Hall, who can often seem haughty and proud, which makes Mordu better at getting along with dragons from other Halls. Arcane magicians are magical sponges, effectively able to use the magical styles of every other Flight (with limitations depending on skill level, of course), meaning that Mordu must effectively become a master of all ten elemental magical styles. He knows this is a great level of responsibility, and often feels pressure to succeed. He is the only Arcane student in Jǫtunheimr Hall, and his greatest fear is that he might appear to be a bad example of his Hall. Mordu is a devoted student, often spending a great deal of his time outside of class studying and practicing. On the rare occasions he feels he has the time to focus on his hobbies, he enjoys sleight-of-hand magic and card tricks, although he's not very good at it.

- Relationships
A friendly and genial dragon, if shy and aloof, Mordu is generally respected and well-liked around Home. Although many dragons don't know him very well, he is able to get along with just about everyone, and he has a genuine personality that makes him easy to like. He is very close with his boyfriend Oren, a wild and rebellious dragon who couldn't be more different in personality. Mordu is fantastic at helping Oren take a step back and curb his wilder tendencies, and Oren absolutely dotes on Mordu and loves watching him practice. Mordu prefers to avoid crowds, usually preferring to spend time with his boyfriend or with his closest friends. His best friends include Oren's older brother Menachem (who Mordu often goes to when he needs some help working up the courage to demonstrate a new magical technique due to Menachem's relentlessly encouraging personality) and Erez, a hallmate with a similar personality. Mordu is the only regular student of Home's resident Arcane magical master and the most selective magical professor, Strange, and is so far the only dragon who can consistently live up to Strange's very high standards. Mordu tends to get along well with his hallmates and his professors universally adore him. Though he is shy, most dragons respect his skill and find him likeable.

- Personality
Introverted, timid, and hesitant, Mordu is a brilliant young magician but is often unconfident and reserved with his abilities. He tends to underestimate himself and focus more on his failures than his successes, even though his professors and friends tell him often that he's nothing short of a marvelous magician. He is still learning to become comfortable with his magical skill and is still unsure of what he can do, but he is learning and proud of what he can do well. Indeed, Mordu can be a bit of a show-off, and when he's demonstrating magical techniques for the hatchlings around Home, he seems a completely different dragon altogether. His level of precision and skill when doing his magic can make his clumsiness very surprising for others (and embarrassing for him). He loves illusory magic and conjurations, appearing to pull solid objects from thin air and vice-versa, and one of his favourite tricks is making his top hat essentially into a bottomless storage container. Oren has multiple times upended the hat only to find an impossible amount of random objects come pouring out, although Mordu never has trouble finding what he's looking for in it. Although it's easy to think there isn't a shier dragon around, he is curious and clever and has a nose for trouble, finding it impossible to ignore any puzzles he thinks needs solving. Many dragons think he probably would have been sorted into Helheim were he not such a wonderful magician. Mordu is known to his friends as a very loyal sort of dragon - he often winds up getting himself into ill-fated adventures with his boyfriend Oren and best friend Erez, and will always try to take the blame for any mistakes without hesitation, even when it's obvious he isn't the one at fault. Even though he's still learning to become comfortable with his magical talents, everyone at Home knows Mordu is one of the best young magicians around.
