Sister :
The woods were quiet in the mornings. That was when Glakila liked to be awake, when the birds were just arising and the air was fresh and cool. She would walk from tree to tree, running her claws through the leaves and studying the dewdrops as they sparkled in the light. It wasn't much, but she enjoyed her time alone in the forest. Everything about it was peaceful and serene, and calmed her spirit when she felt troubled.
But this morning, things were a bit different. For one, the birds didn't seem to be there anymore, which was odd, because they often liked to sing as the sun rose. And second, the entire forest seemed to be hiding. Insects were tucked into the ground, plants shied away from her touch. It was a strange thing. She had never seen the woods this way. Something must have been coming.
Call it a hunch, or just a feeling, but she knew. The forest didn’t like new things. It was afraid of them, and frankly, so was Glakila. She disliked even the winter, as it was the day that the birds left her company. It was the day things grew cold. She shook her head. No, now was not the time for those thoughts. She needed to find out what was coming.
She flew towards the lake, scanning over the woods for anything out of ordinary. The only strange thing was how still the air was. Gently, Glakila landed by the shore, her heart beating quickly. This, this was the source of the unease. Whatever was coming was nearby. There was a rustle in the bushes. Glakila raised her claws in defense, ready to defend the woods at any cost. And then, a dragon emerged, strong and tall. He strode through the brush, walking over to the edge of the lake and lapping at it gently. Glakila studied the guardian, her eyes searching for any hostility. Strangely, she found none.
After taking a few long gulps of the water, the guardian turned to look at her. His eyes, misty and green, stared at her, unafraid and kind. Glakila felt her heart catch in her throat. She was still for a moment, then shook her head, her eyes narrowing. There must have been some sort of reason why the forest was so wary of this stranger.
“Who are you?” She growled. The guardian blinked slowly.
“My name Plakilo, and I suggest you lower your weapons.”
He quickly pulled out a small knife.
“I wouldn’t want to hurt you.”
Glakila laughed.
“A knife? I am one with the forest and the earth, and you think you can stop me with a knife?”
She walked forwards, until she was only a few inches away from Plakilo’s face.
“I am Glakila, and I advise you to get out of my woods before I force you out.”
Plakilo’s eyes widened a bit. He quickly put his weapon away, falling into a sort of bow.
“I’m so sorry,” He exclaimed.
“I didn’t know who you were. My journey has come to an end. I have found you.”
He stood up.
“I had no idea what you’d look like. My apologies once again.”
Glakila crossed her arms over her chest, raising an eyebrow. She still felt wary of this dragon.
“I have searched the lands for you. For years, I have been wandering around Sornieth, hoping to find you. Finally, the day has come. I wish for you to teach me the ways of the woods.”
