Inspired by Nausicaa's scientific approach to helping the Pox Consulate heal from the toxicity that continued to reside both in its soil and in the heads of its community, Laurence had set out to research the divine power of Sornieth's deities. He was convinced that he could find an antidote, using samples of The First Infection that had once been concocted by the Plaguebringer in the Wyrmwound, using her own blood. Others had voiced concerns about divine punishment, but his burning desire to acquire verboten knowledge led him to ignore the warnings. It was not until long that the clergyman would indeed end up having to pay the price for his blasphemy. While analyzing the samples of The First Infection, he ended up becoming infected himself. The exposure would cause him to be punished with a burning sensation all over his body. The divine irony was that the Fire-type dragon was burning from the inside, tormented by a pain of an inextinguishable flame.
