Elizabet is a runaway, fleeing her life on servitude in the Shifting Expanse. Running away from years of pain and suffering under the stormcatcher. Being taken from her home in the southern ice fields as a hatchling, the Expanse is all she’s ever known, the taste of thunder and the sting of electricity on her claws was a common feeling. She was precious, as a first generation, she wasn’t ‘expendable’ as the higher ups had put it, she wasn’t used as cannon fodder. Because of this they kept her away from the metal works, so a designer she stayed, a scientist. Creating schematics and code for the great machines, designing the great sanctum, the source. But then came the day of the accident, Elizabet’s first experience with the demon she helped create, all she could see in the whirring of the cogs and the cackling of storms, was the death such a machine would bring, masked as a generator. Tampering with the elements in favour of technological advancement was unpredictable and beyond dangerous. These are the crimes she hangs herself with. Guilty of creating such machines, despite knowing no better, despite the only other option being death.

She had to run, what other choice did she have? Knowing nothing of the world outside the expanse she was lost, scared, scavenging for days and days, wondering through lands of which she’s never seen. But they couldn’t leave her, now with what she’d seen. The stormcatchers flight chasing her down to every location, only ever one step behind. It seemed hopeless. Until she had met Tiger.
