Biography

Vocation: Weaver of Water
Besties: Nilaratan
Mate:

[Calad's bio kinda ignores his site hatchday of December 2020, because in lore he was a seer who spoke to the Tidelord and was just as lost as the rest when he was suddenly gone.]

Calad came to the Glade from a clan nestled within the Shoredeep Presage. He was one of many seers who made the journey into the deep ritual chambers to speak with the Tidelord, and for a time all was well. But then the storms came, lives were lost, and the Tidelord...gone. The silence was near maddening, and the most frightening thing that Calad had ever experienced.

For a year he tried to bear the silence, the overwhelming fear and dread, the storms that would hit and rage with no warning and nothing to do but weather through them...but eventually he could stay no longer. He bid those in his birth clan farewell, wishing Ani luck and peace, and began to wander.

After two years of aimless traveling, Calad was quite ready to find a permanent home, one far from the sea that had become so unpredictable to him. He had met many friendly and welcoming dragons on his journeys, but none of them had felt right, and so he traveled on, crossing from the Sea of a Thousand Currents to the Windswept Plateau, from there to the Southern Icefield and then back yet again. By the time he reached the Viridian Labyrinth, he felt quite like he had traveled the entirety of Sornieth, and quite frankly he had.

The Gladeveins were where he decided to settle for however long he would be staying in the Glademother's territory, finding the water there to be comforting rather than overwhelming and unpredictable. The deluges came at times that he quickly learned, and he found that as long as he heeded the other creatures fleeing the area, he would never be caught up in their flooding. He spent a full season within the Gladeveins, finding some small solace in the peaceful area, but the loneliness that had set upon him the moment he left the Sea began to hit him in waves.

Calad's previous solution to the loneliness was to set out once again and find a new place to live for a time, but for once he found himself somewhat unwilling to leave. He decided to compromise by packing slowly, stretching the usually quick task into something that lasted several days, giving him ample time to explore the last few areas of the Gladeveins that he had yet to reach. After completing his packing on what would now be his last day in the Gladeveins, Calad had made plans to explore the very edge of the nearby Worldedge Wetlands, interested in exploring how the different environments interacted with water. Those plans were interrupted, however, by an unmistakable rustling, signifying that something else was out there, something unusual.

Before he managed to dig out anything that could help him defend himself, another Skydancer entered what had been his camp, a...Fae, he supposed, riding on their back. The Skydancer immediately turned and began harvesting the lovely purple flowers that Calad had noticed on his first day, keeping up a running dialogue with the Fae, and not seeming to notice him at all. The Fae, on the other hand, did, standing on their hind legs and squeaking excitedly to the Skydancer.
