Effigy

An amalgamation of wax, fabric, and magic, created to take the shape of a dragon and mimic life. By heating itself up enough, its wax body becomes mouldable, allowing it to move in ways that imitate flesh and bone. Its patchwork wings are capable of sustaining flight, although if they become waterlogged this is much harder. It can use its fire magic to dry off quicker, but it comes at the risk of melting itself and needing to cool down to reform.

Its creator is unknown.

It also seems to have a tiny paper friend, perhaps animated by the same thing that created Effigy. Maybe it created the folded friend itself using the magic that gave itself life. Maybe they're unrelated, but took a liking to each other for their similarities. Whatever the case, neither can speak, and while Effigy has proven capable of some basic and rudimentary writing, it appears mostly uninterested in making attempts to communicate with words, written or otherwise.

While it consistently keeps the shape of a Pearlcatcher dragon, it fluctuates between appearing male and female, seemingly at random. Sometimes it has one horn, other times two, and occasionally it will even have three horns. Like most Pearlcatchers, it is very protective of its pearl, although unlike its lookalikes, it never adds to it. It's unknown where it got its pearl from, but it doesn't allow anything to touch it, and often carries it inside it's wax body to protect it. Its pearl most commonly resides in its chest, around where its heart might be if it were a real dragon, although sometimes it holds it in its talons or keeps it tucked under a wing.

It doesn't appear to have any need for food, but it does have a habit of eating candles that are left unattended.
