Baldr & Kahina - Ask Me Anything
These two Magpies serve as the priests and healers of the Crow's Hearth.

Baldr speaks almost nothing of his past, but it is certain one follows him. He arrived one-eyed, starving, and haggard to the borders of the great woods. Unresponsive at first, he was coaxed to health and socialization by his now-mate Kahina, with whom he shares all, later opening up to the rest of the Hearth. Baldr tends to be shy but approachable; serene as a dawn shore and can be jovial at times. He is gifted with much patience and is always open to the clan's members when in need of advice, both in life and in spiritual matters.

Kahina is a veritable spitfire when outside of her sacred duties. She gathers the stories of the world through the globally-traveled seabirds and upon the winds. Battle-ready but not trigger happy, Kahina can be rowdy at times. Despite being a powerful seer, she is surprisingly rambunctious. Some call her the village crazy-lady with the antics she gets up to, which many of the hatchlings around love to join in on. It has been whispered countless times that had anyone else taken Baldr in, the shy heart would never have opened up.

A match made by the gods themselves, it has been whispered. Baldr and Kahina live away from the rest of the Crow's Hearth in a cave high up a seaside cliff. They both serve as the clan's healers, their leaders in spiritual rites to the gods revered by the Hearth, and often as teachers to the village's youth. Both have dedicated their lives to rite and make much sacrifice in worldly values to achieve wisdom.

1) How did you awaken? How did you learn what you are? If you could change one thing, it could be about the world or your life, what would you change, if anything? Would or rather?
Baldr: "I don't remember much of my childhood due to - what I have been told are - head and wing injuries as an adolescent. By the standards of my species I should not have lived to adulthood. My earliest memory is blood, eternally autumnal trees, and the crash of distant ocean waves. I remember waking one-eyed with an insatiable urge to learn and a reflection I could not remember being mine, not once at all. No one of the Hearth could tell me anything as I had stumbled alone weak, damaged, and ill to their borders. It still surprises me they took me in at all, as many others wouldn't have. For now, it has become my heart and lifeblood to heal others as I was healed. I have dived into ancient herbal lore and rites to my deities, sometimes being granted visions for it; a powerful healer and dreamer. Somedays though, I ponder if I might've been meant for something different. As for if I could change anything, I would wish I'd a normal life, even if it were a normal Magpie life as opposed to a non-Crow one. I always wonder what the non-Crows of Satiir Rho must live like. Furthermore, I choose would."

Kahina: "I also choose would! There are endless possibilitie with would, are there not? As for me, I was raised amongst true Effluvials and knew nothing else until awakening. Despite having been twitchy about my wings lifelong, I went years of training without anyone thinking to mention it. Go figure! Well, once outed, it was too late at that point to do much about me, but they were furious and sent me to exile. But I was furious too. I made a scene as I left that clan, I tell you. I would not go quietly. I also left them some sour gifts."

Baldr: "By this she means she trashed their personal garden by pouring salt into the soil, ruining the growing potential permanently."

Kahina: "I swear I've changed since then, mellowed out! If there was anything I'd change, it would be the purity pedestal of Crows. We're lucky the clan we're with is accepting of all species."
