Report Regarding: Escaped Stain

...at the evening shift change, an empty cell was reported. Several Sentries were dispatched to pursue the escapee, and were gone for hours. When they finally returned, they did not have the prisoner with them. According to their firsthand reports, they pursued very closely for a long time, but the prisoner -- who, I will add, was malnourished and should have, by all rights, been exhausted long before our well-trained Sentries -- ultimately escaped.

This is embarrassing for a number of reasons. While I am not particularly upset at the escape itself -- the prisoner was already useless to us -- it is unacceptable that our Sentries be so grossly incompetent. I want to order a return to training for every Sentry that was on that patrol, and a complete evaluation of each and every Sentry and Overseer that could have been involved in this escape. Today was completely unacceptable, and I trust that it will never happen again.

About

Absalom is one of the Stained Ones: Seekers who went searching for the members of their order which were lost in the Scarred Wasteland, only to be captured and experimented on. She was lucky enough to survive the attempts to turn her into a Carnage Ichor -- or unlucky, depending on how you look at it -- and was left in a prison, a failure to be forgotten.

Absalom didn't let this get the best of her, though; she was still in complete control of her mind, unlike some of the other poor souls there, and had plenty of time to wait and strategize. When she saw her opportunity, she took it: she escaped, with the Carnage-Ichors on her heels, and ran for her life. When she finally lost them, she was free.

This was not enough for Absalom. She remembered too clearly just how many of her former comrades were locked away in that prison, and she could not just return to the Icewarden without trying to help them. Absalom retreated to a safe location and began to plan the largest jailbreak in history.

Loyalties

Absalom is loyal through and through to the Seeker order, and particularly to her lost comrades who she intends to rescue. Unlike the Carnage-Ichors, she remembers where she came from and what her ultimate quest is. She still harbors loyalty to the Icewarden and her original mission, but she can't simply leave the Scarred Wasteland without trying to help those who were captured with her. They are her comrades, her friends, her family; she could never just leave them.

The first she managed to rescue was her wife, Ruby. After a tearful reunion, the two of them agreed: they would work together to free as many Stained Ones as possible before trying to report back to the Icewarden. With Ruby's help -- and the assistance of a tiny Veilspun Absalom befriended -- they began to plan the slow, steady rescue of as many of their comrades as they could. While Absalom would have preferred a massive, mass-jailbreak, Ruby convinced her that it would be safer to free only a few at a time, over a long period of time.

They are well on their way. It is only a matter of time now.

Relationships

Icarus

Absalom met Icarus by chance, when Icarus rescued her from Carnage-Ichor pursuers, but they became fast friends. Icarus likes to burrow into Absalom's mane to keep warm, and when Absalom is in danger, Icarus is there to hypnotize her pursuers. Icarus has sworn herself to Absalom's cause, and Absalom is glad to have her as a friend. Good company can be hard to find.

Ruby

Wife | she/her

Ruby is the first Stained One that Absalom rescued from the Carnage-Ichor prison -- by design. Absalom needed to know if her wife was alive, and the relief she felt when they escaped and Ruby was uninjured... Absalom is not ashamed that she cried. Ruby is her best friend. her closest confidant, and her voice of reason; if she is to finish this mission, Absalom needs Ruby by her side.
