A serious, mild-mannered dragon and one of the professors of Jǫtunheimr Hall, Cosmo is one of Home's most thoroughly skilled magicians. An even-tempered and easygoing sort of dragon, he often volunteers to teach beginner's magic courses, and his knowledge and skill when it comes to more dangerous, even taboo, branches of magic can come as a surprise. While most Jǫtunheimr professors tend to teach Jǫtunheimr students almost exclusively, Cosmo is the notable exception, and he is well-known around Home as an excellent mediator and advisor.
- Biography
One of Home's younger professors, Cosmo grew up Home himself, where he was sorted into Jǫtunheimr Hall and quickly distinguished himself due to his ability to excel in almost any magical specialty he studied. An ambitious dragon and an excellent student, he took to the study of the old magick, an ancient field rarely studied in modern times due to its inherently dangerous properties. Cosmo is the only professor on Home's faculty who can claim to be a master of the old magick, though he most frequently teaches classes on his secondary specialty, which is more generalized Plague elemental magic. Cosmo's husband, Reysel, is another professor at Home, and the two have been together since they were students at Home themselves. A pessimistic dragon by nature, Cosmo often relies on Reysel to get himself moving in the right direction.
- Life at Home
Cosmo is known around Home both for the difficulty of the material studied in his advanced classes and his laid-back, low-stress teaching style. His classes are often recommended to magicians who struggle with self-confidence, as he is fantastic at introducing very advanced material in a low-pressure environment. As a practitioner of old magick, his advanced classes are highly sought after by Jǫtunheimr students, who take being accepted into one of those small classes as a badge of pride. Though he is immensely skilled and passionate about Plague elemental magic, Cosmo's favourite specialty is blood magic, an ancient Plague magical art that requires the ritualized use of dragon blood to enhance and shape magic. Dangerous, powerful, and very much not for the faint of heart, most dragons would not be able to guess from Cosmo's mild, polite appearance and demeanour that he's a blood magician.
- Relationships
Polite and easygoing, Cosmo has little trouble getting along with pretty much anyone. He refuses to talk poorly of other dragons and typically assumes the best in others, making him an easy dragon to like. He can come across as a little closed-off and reserved, but he has a sly, witty sense of humour when you get to know him that his students find very endearing. Cosmo is good friends with the other Jǫtunheimr professors, gets along universally with his colleagues in other Halls, and is beloved by his students. Good at problem-solving and thinking quickly on his feet, he's excellent at the sort of logical, methodical thinking that makes a dragon good for a crisis, and he's one of the best of Home's professors to go to for advice. Cosmo is friendly with practically every other dragon on Home's faculty, but he's closest with his husband Reysel, and he thinks without Reysel's eccentricities, he'd probably be a much more melancholy dragon than he already is.
- Personality
Mild-mannered, even-tempered, and unfailingly polite, Cosmo tends to keep himself close to his chest. He's universally friendly and warm to other dragons, but is slow to open up about himself, and has a naturally understated temperament that can make him seem a bit gloomy or even sad. He tends to push himself very hard, accepting nothing but the best from himself and working himself past the point of exhaustion. He often relies on Reysel's help to pace himself, and if left to his own devices, he'd probably work himself to death. Not a dragon easily given to extremes of emotion or temperament, he's a trusted dragon around Home thanks to his logical, precise nature, and he values being the sort of dragon others can go to when they need help, though he's slow to ask for help himself. Cosmo is a dragon that everyone around Home knows and trusts, and for good reason - without him, Jǫtunheimr Hall would probably fall into chaos.
