______ Truffle was a lone wanderer that ended up in the C-I's grasp, not realizing what was happening. But while she may not have grasped what had happened to her, she did know she needed to survive. And that fixation led to her plotting and planning her escape. It took a long time, too long in her mind, to subtly weaken her chains using ice magic. And when they were weak enough and she saw an opportunity, she fled. She eventually ran into some of Ichors that made their home at Malady's edge, and they kindly took in the exhausted stained one, introducing her to the other stained ones in the clan.

______ Her chest ached, and her legs had long since gone numb, but still she ran. She couldn't let herself get caught again. Not after last time. She cursed herself when she looked up and saw a large Gaoler not unlike those she was fleeing, her claws scrambled for perches on the fleshy soil, but momentum carried her forward. And when she crashed into them, she felt her heart skip a beat.

She expected pain, to be tormented, but she felt a gentle nuzzle to the side of her head. Cracking an eye open, when had she squeezed them shut? Truffle was met with a female Gaoler, who was looking at her with kindness.

"Are you alright young one? You look rather frazzled."

She had a motherly tone that made the frightened stained relax a tad.

"I-I'm alright. I'm sorry to bump into you, but I really need to go."

Truffle scrambled to her feet and backed away. She didn't want them paying for being nice to her. Almost instantly she saw the female's face go from concerned to understanding and worried.

"You're running from the carnage Ichors, aren't you? Oh you poor thing. We know a safe place, come with us, you can rest and stop worrying."

While part of Truffle screamed to not trust the words coming from the other's mouth, something made her listen.

"O-okay. Um, I'm Truffle."

"It's nice to meet you Truffle, I'm Journey, and this is my mate Wanderlust."

She gave them a shakey smile, and approached again.

"Now, let's get you home Truffle, you look dead on your feet."

And the three set off, bound for home.
