Biography

Mizar doesn't consider herself of a dragon that would have anything interesting to tell anyone, there is nothing unique about her, her family or the clan that she had once lived in. She had simply wanted to travel to a new location, to expand her knowledge and meet more dragons in the world. There was only so much she could learn from her clan, if she wanted to experience more in the world she was going to have to go out and find it herself.

And so, with the blessing of her parents and her clan she set out to travel the world and learn what she could by experiencing it.

Now to say that always went like the storybooks had claimed adventuring went would be a lie, Mizar found herself having to learn how to catch bugs or hunt meat to survive, two things she had never had to do when she lived among the clan. Hunting wasn't an easy thing, given her pearl white scales could often stand out and would give her away if she didn't lay low and be patient. There were many a night where she went without eating anything because she had gotten impatient and rushed forward and ended up losing the meal she had been tracking.

But each failed hunt turned into a learning opportunity. Mizar knew if she let this get the better of her she would certainly die out there in the real world, or need to slink back home with her tail tucked between her legs.

And although her clan and family would welcome her back without hesitation, she wanted to be able to show them that she could stand on her own, that she was a capable adult in handling affairs that the other clan members had told her she was too young for. It really was just the way of the world, if she wanted to be treated like an adult she would need to leave and strike out her own place, her own clan and raise a family and pass on to them the very same lessons that had been passed on to her so that they would be ready to grow up and meet the outside world.

Though having hatchlings is part of her future plans, it is not something that is on her plan for an immediate future, as she is sure that there will be plenty of times she would be given the chance to lay a clutch and let her maternal instincts grow, but they would do her no good if she couldn't get the basics down to survive.

Over the months that she was living on her own, Mizar got better at hunting and catching bugs, to the point that she could often manage extra and would be willing to trade and barter when she went into towns. At first, it was easy for others to take advantage of her naivety, she had never done anything like this before and didn't know what would be acceptable or allowed but she was quick to learn, she had to be or pay the price for it.

She would argue that this made her a stronger dragon, but there were times where she longed for the comfort of her previous life.

Though no one would really fault her for that because it made sense for one to miss the things they had when spirits got low.

Mizar tries her best to keep her spirits from getting that low, even when she is still learning against the sharp learning curve that the real world is always throwing at her. The world isn't kind, but it didn't mean that it was particularly after her, at least that was what Mizar kept telling herself when she was working to survive.

While Mizar continued her travels she spent her time talking with other dragons, learning about what they had to teach, being much older than she was and understood things that she could never hope to understand without an older dragon there to guide her, she wasn't fool enough to think there weren't things for her to learn.

Mizar would recommend to anyone, who would ask her, that they should travel once in their life as it really is a fascinating way to experience the world as there are things from her birth clan she never could have learned or done if she had stayed.

Mizar was not always the brightest dragon in the world, but that doesn't bother her too much because she knows there are many others smarter than her, but she knows what she does have knowledge about can be used to help those who do not have the same knowledge. Mizar is really good at mathematics and science, as that is something she had always found herself doing really well in her teachings when she was a hatchling, which sometimes made other hatchlings jealous but with her being more willing to help and teach they quickly learned they could get Mizar to do their work for them, which she had no problem doing, though she would explain what she was doing while she was doing it.

Many would argue she was a little too free with given out information and aide, perhaps it came from a place of naivety, or simply just wanting to help.

But just as often as it could be argued she is being naïve or helpful, it could also be argued that she just doesn't think about what her actions could cause, maybe because she wants to learn what would happen based on what she did.

Though it did dawn on her that if she wanted to continue doing this she was going to need the backing of a clan to help, not only protect her if things go wrong, but to help her understand why something happened and how to fix it in the future.

So, Mizar began to travel to both learn as well as try to find a place that she could call home, preferring to find dragons to a similar mindset as herself, so that it would be far easier for her to find her place among them then to try and join a clan that would try and get her to change to fit their pre-established ideas for her or other members of the clan.

As she travels though she does pick up ideas from other clans and eagerly shares with them what she had learned from others, this allowing her to barter in knowledge when she has no items or treasure in which to use.

Mizar would argue that it's more important to teach others than to buy and trade things, but it goes without saying that a dragon simply can not live with knowledge alone and one can not help anyone else if they did not have supplies to spare. It's a delicate balance that Mizar knows she needs others to be more aware of because it often either slips her mind or she simply doesn't bother to care for things she views she doesn't need in the moment.

Which is what, eventually, brought Mizar to traveling into the Southern Icefield and discovering the slowly growing clan that is lead by the Tundra, Hermes. At first she wasn't quite sure what to make of the clan, although it was made up of different dragons, as most clans were of course, there didn't seem to be any real structure or hierarchy to the group. If anything they only had a leader and that was about it, and yet it seemed to go as an unspoken, and unwritten, word about who belonged where and who exactly answered to who. Mizar found this fascinating as she had never seen a clan like this and she knew without a second thought this was the place she wanted to stay and try to make work as a home. There were so many different ideas, traditions and beliefs in this clan and yet they were not conflicting with each other, or at least not in a way that the Spiral could see. So, without hesitation, she requested a chance to be allowed to join. To her surprise she was allowed without a test, or questioning, simply told to find a spot to claim as her own.

Mizar then gladly found a spot for herself and settled into her new life in the clan, content with the world that she was finding herself in. Perhaps one day she would move on to further her need for adventure and learning, but for now she had found a place where she feels she can settle down and live out for some time til then.
