Biography
I've come a thousand miles alone, passed every kingdom's empty throne
There is a legend of a dragon, a dragon of absolute purity. This dragon could not exist as flesh and bone, but instead shall be the purest of metals. This dragon shall be a symbol of fortune and of glory, divinity in a dragon. Midas was named after this myth when he was hatched, as he was not a dragon as he should have been, but was instead a crystalline gold figure. In his home Midas was expected to live up to the title of his name and be The Gilded King, but he was just a hatchling. How could a hatchling bring glory and wealth to a fading clan? He could not. The pressure grew to great for him, and he ran. Barely more than a hatchling with nothing but a pearl, a golden dragon alone in Sornieth.
Midas was surprised when he reached another clan; they did not see him as a divine being, but as a creature of avarice. He was shunned and cast away from the warmth of comfort, he could not understand what he had done wrong. As the years went by Midas found some who would offer him kindness, but it was always done out of greed.
Midas sought to find a reason for his curse of gilded isolation, and perhaps even a cure, through the wisdom of the deities. But what cause have they to care about one simple creature, when one of their own ranks is missing?
Having lost all hope of finding a cure or a home, Midas began to travel from clan to clan. He would stay until either he or the clan felt that he no longer belonged there. Many years were spent in this manner, all the while Midas would merely exist. He saw no value to his life, he was seen as nothing but a representation of greed, or of purity. But neither description actually fit him.
Midas was tired of trying when he joined Kage no Sekai, but he saw something he never thought possible: another dragon like him. He learned, however, that Lyora was just a dragon with unique scales, not a gilded being like him. With this disappointment he could not keep from giving up. Midas sat down against a tree and simply stayed there waiting. His body needed no food nor water nor even sleep, so he just waited there for time to take him. However he was interrupted by Lyora, she would come over and try to talk with him. This continued for a few weeks before he finally responded to her. He had come to realize something: she saw him not as some gilded idol, but as a dragon.
Midas may not be the most conversational dragon, but through Lyora's kindness he has found a companion.
Something that surprises most who meet him is that Midas has not a single coin to his name. Midas relays on bartering with his few possessions when he wants something, although since he lacks the basic needs of a dragon, he rarely seeks anything he does not have.
