Biography
Cenarion blinked and opened his eyes slowly.
He looked around and saw the shadows surrounding him, cloaking the forest in darkness.
He saw his siblings, as dark as night, and his parents, looking darker than the endless depths of space without stars.
His father lowered his face towards him and sniffed him.
"Well, this one is truly the odd one out." he said.
His mother glared at him. "He will never be accepted here." she said.
She picked up his brother and moved him away from Cenarion.
"See, OUR children should be like us, TRUE shadow dragons!" she said.
Cenarion's father rolled his eyes. "Just five minutes out of the egg, and already you blame him for his markings. I bet they'll darken over the next while, he probably just hatched weird."
But years later, Cenarion was still bright and shining gold. Everyone but his mother was used to this, and his sister Helios was his best friend even though his mother said she should not go near him.
His scales reflected even the littlest bit of light around the forest, making many dragons draw away from him because of the shining light hitting their eyes adapted to the many shadows around them.
Cenarion loved to fly above the trees and in clearings, enjoying the sunlight, when no one was watching. He loved the light, and no one ever found out about his flights in midday, high up as if trying to get closer to the sun.
Cenarion laughed and spun through the sky, disrupting his own thoughts. His sister had just woken up, and he invited her to fly too, trusting her.
She hissed like a cat at the sight of the light around, however, and her wings became limp and weak. She fell through the canopy again.
Cenarion dove towards her, hoping to catch her before she hit the ground, but his father was quicker than him, grabbing the falling dragon and putting her gently on a mossy tree branch until she woke up.
"I'm disappointed in you, son. You could have killed her just by going above the tree canopy." he said. Cenarion's ears drooped. "Your mother will not be pleased when she finds out." his father continued. "She'll probably kick you out of the Clan, and-"
Suddenly, Cenarion's mother appeared. "Yes, I will." she said. She dove into the shadows, but instead of flying away, returned suddenly and whacked into Cenarion's head. Cenarion was unprepared for this, and she found no trouble grabbing his neck and flying him out above the treetops. "There you are, child. Go." she said. She dove back into the shadowed forest, and Cenarion simply glided around in circles.
"Leave." his father said from somewhere in the trees.
Cenarion wondered how this had all happened so fast. He hadn't gotten to speak or anything. His parents had just immediately decided he had to leave.
Cenarion sighed and flew away, following the winds.
