Persephone lurked behind a food tent, shuffling her long wings. She craned her neck and mumbled under her wing. "This place is so big. I don't know where to go."
The ghostly nocturne spirits whispered to one another. Fly around is nice. No no, want to see shows. No, go find food. Yes, hungry, hungry. So hungry. Not fly, maybe someone see. Yes, yes, stay here. Food. Hungry.
Persephone hushed the small dragon spirits. "Quiet, you all. I'll see about getting some bugs. We all eat bugs." She folded her wings to her side and the spirits flattened themselves to her feathers as she crept around to the food vendor's stalls and tents. "C-Can I please get four orders of..." She took a moment to read the menu. "Fried grasshoppers?"
"Four's a lot of food for a small bird like you," remarked the vendor, though he ducked his head into his tent and began preparing the order.
The skydancer handed over a handful of treasure and lifted her wing once she was sure the vendor wasn't looking. One of the nocturne children poked their head out from under her wing-shoulder. "Want to fly," they complained.
"We're eating first. Your siblings are hungry."
"Not fly at wind festival? Not fly at WIND festival?" whined the spirit.
"Hush! You'll draw attention to yourself!" Persephone nuzzled the ghost back under her wing and closed it to her side again, just as the vendor came back to the table with four paper bowls of fried insects. Persephone gave him a strained smile and took the bowls to a table, slightly away from the rest of the party. She carefully relaxed her wings and allowed the ghost children to waver from her wings and eat their food.
Well, they didn't really eat the actual grasshoppers. Their faces passed right through the bugs, though when they drew their heads back up, they crunched happily on dead bug energy. Persephone ate her own bowl of grasshoppers, folded her wings, and passed the rest to a family of wind dragons at a nearby table, then scampered away.
"Fly now?" chittered one of the nocturnes, quickly followed by the other two. "Fly! Fly? Fly please?"
Persephone glanced around and snuck to a slightly more open field at the outskirts of the party. "Okay. Here." She opened her wings and took off, her three ghosts following. A thin trail of smoke attached their tails to her side as the children looped and played in the sky. Persephone smiled and drew higher into the sky, tossing a wisp of cloud amongst them. They cried out in excitement and batted the cloud around the sky. Clouds weren't really corporeal either, so they could touch it with ease.
