B I O G R A P H Y

Kcarian awoke to voices in her head and the sound of light, peaceful breathing beside her. As she opened her eyes, blinded momentarily by the light, she saw Arengar beside her, clutching the strange, three-headed plushie to his chest and sleeping soundly. For a moment, she thought to wake him, but then decided it would be best if he continued to rest.
She seemed to be in the castle infirmary, though, no one was there. Through the window, she could see a pale sliver of the moon, and the stars spattered behind it. Everyone else must have been asleep.
Slowly, she rose to her feet, crossing the room quickly and pulling open the door. She needed to find her mother. She needed to make sure she was safe.

As she pulled open the door, she heard Arengar's weak voice.
"Ri?" He asked, rubbing his eyes tiredly. She turned to him, biting her lip.
"I didn't mean to wake you," She apologized as he stood up. He shook his head.
"It's fine. To be honest, I didn't want to be asleep anyways. How are you feeling?"
Kcarian smiled. "I'm fine, I think. A bit weak, but otherwise good. What happened?" She asked. This time it was Arengar's turn to bite his lip.
"When... when the army crossed to Sysalis, you tried to go with them. Bones and I had to knock you out so you wouldn't run through."

Kcarian stared at him wide-eyed, then frowned.
"You prevented me from going with mother?" She asked, anger boiling inside her stomach. Arengar nodded feebly. Before she realized what she was doing, she had grabbed him by the shoulders and pressed him to the wall.
"My mother could be dying in hell and you wouldn't even let me go there to protect her?!"
She raised her talon, scraping her claws along the fae's face. Blood began to pool where she had cut him. Her eyes widened.
"Oh my god, Arengar, I'm so sorry," She mumbled, letting him go. He touched his face gently, wincing as his claws made contact with the wound. She held up her claws, this time in spell, and began to heal the wound. Deep in her heart, she knew it was too late to save Aurus, and that there was nothing she could do.

____Kcarian stared at the fae, her eyes wide and fearful. Blood poured from his wound like a crimson waterfall, pooling around him and turning the dirt to mud. She looked around frantically for someone else, but they were alone. She bit her lip, turning back to the young fae. He looked up at her slowly, his eyes beginning to glaze.
"You've got to use your magik," He whispered. She looked around, praying for some other option to appear, but nothing was to be found. She drew in a quiet breath, facing back towards her friend and raising her talons over the wound.
"Sorry mum," She mumbled as her talons shone gold. She closed her eyes, opening her mind to the the voices of the Selmari. The faint wisps of power filled her head as they drew near. Her ears rung with their voices as they spoke.
Come with us, come with us...
She shut them out, drawing the godlike magic from their touch and pushing it into Anorath. As her soul began to falter, she whispered;
"s̴̰̃ä̵̧n̵̰̄å̵͍." And the world turned gold, and time froze, and she opened her eyes and saw angels.

____"Kcarian!"
Aurus' voice echoed through the hallways as she limped through the door, Anorath resting gently in her arms. The room swayed before her eyes, making her feel as if she was drifting among the waves. Her head felt light. And those awful whispers still presided in her mind, long after the Selmari had gone. She shuddered, almost dropping Anorath. Aurus rushed over, her eyes wide and nervous.
"Kcarian, where have you-?" She paused, looking at Anorath in her arms. She looked up at Kcarian feafully.
"You didn't..." She whispered. Kcarian blinked.
"I had to," She replied. Aurus' eyes narrowed.
"I told you never, ever to contact those demons again! The Selmari are dangerous! You could have been stolen."
Kcarian looked down, her arms beginning to shake under the weight of her friend.
"I'm sorry," She mumbled, swaying a bit. Aurus blinked, then shook her head.
"Let's just get you to the healing ward. We'll speak of this later. For now, just rest. We can speak about this tomorrow."
