B I O G R A P H Y

The world was burning.

Aurus lay in a heap at the base of the altar, a small trickle of blood running from her nostrils a large gash over one eye. All around her, the bodies of her fallen comrades lay, lifeless, their eyes still and unfocused. Only a few were breathing, but barely. A young Skydancer was the only one other conscious member of her group, his electric blue eyes scanning the battlefield readily.
"Aur." He mumbled, nudging her gently. She winced, taking in a large breath of ash and decay.
"Veri." She coughed, small droplets of crimson splattering on the ground in front of her.
"You're alive."
"Of course I am." Veri retorted, grabbing her arm and hoisting her up.
"I may be the only one. Do you know where we are?" He asked. Aurus grunted.

"Sysalis?" She guessed. Veri nodded.
"And you're the one who got us here." He snapped. Aurus rubbed her arm. It felt detached. She assumed it probably was.
"I know. I'm sorry." She mumbled, opening and closing her wings. Those seemed fine. She seemed to be in pretty good condition for what she went through. She shook her head, sending small droplets of blood flying in every direction. Veri sighed deeply, running a claw down his face.
"I'm sorry." He said.
"I'm just... well, I'm quite angry, to be frank. If I knew how much this job would cost me, I wouldn't have taken it." He spat. Aurus stared at him, feeling a bit saddened by his words. He met her gaze, his beak pressed into a firm line.
"Sorry, sorry." He mumbled.
"Are you alright?"
"No." She said, showing him her arm. He studied it for a moment, then sighed.
"Well, you better get to our medical outpost. It isn't far from here, about a mile west. I'm going to keep looking for survivors."

Aurus nodded, spreading her wings and preparing for flight. She paused, however, staring at Veri concernedly.
"I would hope that, even if you knew the risks this job had, you would take it anyways. I value you as a friend, and I can't imagine what my life would be like without you by my side."

____Aurus held the purple Nocturne egg close to her chest, watching the two dragon warily.
""You see, our current clan leader cannot be trusted with eggs. I don't mind what you do with this egg as long as it doesn't end up in our clan. Our hatchling mortality rate is awfully high..." The male skydancer said sadly, shaking his head back and forth. The two smiled at eachother, strangely happy, and then turned back to her.
""Well, thank you for your time. Best of luck on your endeavors!" He grinned cheerily. Aurus looked down at the egg in her claws, a bit surprised. She hadn't expected something like this to just be thrust upon her so quickly.
"How did you find this place?" She asked the skydancers. They shrugged, a small grin on both of their faces.
"We know some dragons." They smiled slyly. Aurus opened her mouth to respond, then closed it, shaking her head.
"Well, thank you." She smiled calmly.
"I cannot promise this hatchling the best life, but... I'll do what I can." She looked down at the egg, running a finger gently down its smooth surface.
"Well little one," she cooed.
"Welcome to a world of demons."

____"Come on Veri... get up..."
Her eyes were wet with tears, as a small trickle of blood dripped from her nostrils and onto the Skydancers scales. He made no movement.
"Veri... come on... stop fooling around!"
She placed her claws on his shoulders, shaking him gently. A small droplet of water ran down her cheek.
"Come on Veri... wake up..." She pleaded, more tears spilling from her eyes. She let go of him, allowing him to slump backwards on the rock.
"Damn it, you over-dramatic Skydancer!"
Slowly, she rose to her feet, reaching into her satchel and pulling out the last of her rose petals. She crushed them in her palm, sprinkling the small pieces over the Skydancers body. She drew in a breath, holding out her hands. As she did, a small blue light appeared at her clawtips.
"M̷̯͝u̶̗͆̓n̴̬͌d̷̨͐ụ̷̑͆͜s̵͔̬͛,̸͍͗̔ ̶͓̘̅͒ú̴̪̐t̵̫̭̽ ̵̬̉͝ȧ̸̛͚d̵̗̀ ̶̩͚̓ṗ̷̣̬̕r̸̝̋̇i̷̙̊m̸̙̼͘͠ȕ̶̲̙̿m̴̗̜͋ ̷͕̆ẹ̴̐̇t̷̤̑̓ ̵̩͠ű̴͖̳ĺ̶̜ͅt̷͚̬̄̈i̵̫͉̇m̶̦̈̚u̵̻̍͘m̶̫̌̄," She whispered, as her eyes rolled back in her head.
"Ă̸̘̌ḿ̵͜͠i̵̡͕̽͛c̶̻̈́ų̵͎͒̄m̵̥̾̆ ̴̤͗̔p̸̧̑͐e̵͚̖̎r̶̫̈́͠d̸̫̘̍e̴͓̐r̴̓̇ͅẽ̴̦͛ ̸̡̛͒p̸̺̤̑͝ō̴̰ś̸̞̆s̸̞̽̅ȗ̷̠̉m̸̛͉ ̸̞͆͛p̶͓̆̉r̸͉̅̆a̸̩͇͂e̶̟͎̔s̵̝̰͘t̴͚̄͠ă̴̧̋r̸͕̟̄̋e̵̫͒, I̷̮̿ṭ̵̛̪ḁ̶̳̆̔,̷͖̓ ̷̢̑̑s̵̡̎͗i̴̛͔̤̊ ̴̝̀̇ṃ̷̬̇͝u̴̯̿̂n̵̝͂̇ḓ̵͌u̵̦͈̅͛ș̵̐ ̶͉̀̀ͅę̸̰̆ť̷̯̲̀ ̸̼́e̴̮͎̿v̷͙̽̑a̴̼̬͝ņ̴̰̂e̴͍̍s̵̙̱̉c̴̥̅̈ẻ̶̞̆t̴̲̀͠,"
The ground below her burst aflame.
"D̴̜̱̀r̶͇̒̓a̷̡̚ċ̴̮͠o̸̟̚ ̶̰̟̆̈́i̶̹̐̿ͅs̵̖̘̋t̵͈̯̋̽e̶̖̝̊ ̸̲̪͊̐ẽ̸̬s̴͕͛̒t̴̩̎ͅ,̶̩̃̎ ̸̡̃͛h̸̢͆̀o̷̺̔c̶̱̍̕ ̸̞̀͝ṽ̷̯̻͠ŏ̴̡l̴̜̠̀o̸̡͊ ̷͓͊h̴̻̟͌̾ĩ̸͌ͅc̶͖̦̀." She mumbled, her body cast in a halo of light. Before her, Veri drew in a small breath, and opened his eyes.
