Decaying

Rotting away ever so slowly,
Feeling myself deteriorating,
Being overtaken so wholly,
Watching myself molding.

My muscles have slowed to a crawl.
My insides have been overtaken by fungi.
My mind is a mushroom cave.
My eyes are covered in lichens.

Decomposing brings me a sense of serenity,
I have made my own fungal embassy.
For this, I know there is no remedy,
So with these spores I leave my legacy.

Your claws can tear at every Fairy Shelf,
Your teeth can bite at every Death Cap,
Your tools can remove every Toadstool,
Your determination can only worsen my affliction.

Rotting from the inside,
Decomposing from the outside,
Being absorbed and eaten alive,
I’ll be home real soon.

The Flamescale Illusionist, Soothe, chose Noah. When Noah first showed up in Wind territory, Soothe found him shaking in a shallow cave in the plateaus, deteriorating in rot and lost in flashbacks. The only way Soothe knew how to help the dragon was to use his illusionist skills in an effort to manipulate the flashbacks. By altering Noah's perception of reality, Soothe was able to ground Noah and pull him out of the flashbacks. The two began to wander Wind territory, enjoying the peaceful and happy-go-lucky atmosphere as a safe and healing place. Soothe continued to use his illusions as a trauma processing tool for Noah, often combatting his flashbacks. Soothe worked closely with Noah to recognize when to remove potentially dangerous triggers in their lives and when to bring up the past in a safe and grounded way to help with trauma processing.

Noah's particular condition is a rare one best researched in Plague territory. He doesn't like to speak about his past, so all Soothe knows is that his decomposing is caused by past trauma. The heartbreak, the pain... all of it burst out of his flesh and skin, rotting him from the inside. After getting away from that past, he had taken experimental treatments in Plague territory, which helped greatly in expanding his lifetime and quality of life. After attaining medical treatment, he decided he wanted to spend the rest of his life traveling and enjoying his life.

For several years, Noah happily roamed Wind territory. With Soothe by his side, he regained a sense of calmness and control. He enjoyed meeting new dragons and their companions, but Soothe was always quick to make sure that Noah never encountered any potentially dangerous triggers, sometimes altering Noah's reality with harmless illusions in a rudimentary form of censorship. The pair often spent time walking through meadows and bubbling brooks, letting the peace of the territory seep into their souls.

Later, Noah decided to settle down permanently in Halcyon. His cozy, humble den is themed around similarly white-pelted dragons, and his clanmates take good care of him. Soothe decided to continue traveling and was last heard from happily researching trauma processing with neurologists in Plague territory. The two are still close friends and pen pals.
