They Who Lurk in the Dark | Brutal | Savage | Mysterious mate: None Formerly three imperials by the name of Fernando, Lionel, and Xion, this trio fought battles together, and saw each other like kin. They never heeded the warnings that comes with multiple imps all in the same lair, nor did they worry about such things. After all, there is no such thing as an Emperor with three heads... right? When they fell in battle, alongside their non-imperial allies, what no one expected was an emperor which rose from the pile of bodies, and one with less than four heads, none the less. Carrying Fernando's weapon and the bandages from Xion from former battles, the Emperor had to fall in battle, or else other dragons will fall with them. And so, it was a great battle against the great Emperor, who eventually fell... or so the stories said. However, when weeks later, a certain Emperor was found in the dark forest surrounding nearby ruins, as well as many pairs of glowing eyes, it was said that the only survivor barely lived with life-debilitating injuries, they realized it was too late: the Emperor is still loose, and it could not be found in the depths of the tangling forest that lead those astray. So remember to never go into the forest at night, as you may never know when Those Who Lurk in the Dark, with their beady, glowing eyes will whisk you away, never to be seen again.

"There was a strange rumor. One about those pairs of glowing eyes, deep in the forest. Some say they can hear the deathly screech or hiss of some sort of creature, one that isn't a dragon. Even those who fought the Emperor knew that it didn't make such noises- it made a garbled mess of words, as if in an attempt to speak. It was a raving madman of a dragon, but even then, those noises those other pair of beady eyes made... it couldn't be a dragon. It had to be another beast that would handle the Emperor's wrath and stench. Near the forest, I heard a strange rumor. There was a body of a dragon, one about to turn to ash and get thrown into the sea, but when the dragon was there to burn the body, they found a giant mass of cats, feeding upon the body. No one was sure why, but such strange activities from the nearby wild cat population were displayed only to those nearby the forest. It seemed to have started around the same time that the Empero- I mean, They Who Lurk in the Dark, seem to prey upon those who wander into the forest. At least the cats don't seem to attack us but... nowadays, I am a bit scared to approach those creatures now." -Nautilus |
