Siegfried was not born in the duchess’ territory, but even from a young age, he was told the stories about her and her court. At first, they stroke fear in the child’s heart, but the older Siegfried grew, the more intrigued he was. However, being born as a woman, Siegfried’s predetermined path in life was not that of an adventurer, but that of a housewife and mother. While generally his parents regarded him with kindness, they were not understanding or supportive towards this feeling of dysphoria that accompanied Siegfried ever since his teenage years. When finally, they arranged a marriage to the son of a merchant family, Siegfried fled this future directed by someone else. Dressed as a man, he found new companions in a group of mercenaries, who were willing to take him along. As he had no coin to his name, the mercenaries’ leader offered him to work to repay his debt. He taught Siegfried how to fight, and with lots of devotion and discipline, Siegfried excelled in the ways of the sword.

One day, the path of the mercenaries brought them close to the duchess’ castle. Upon gazing up to the dark crenelation, Siegfried’s buried curiosity awoke anew. His chest fluttering with both fear and excitement, he made his way towards the castle to catch a glimpse of the duchess he had heard so much about. But even before he had any chance to get to her, he was attacked by her guards. They did not listen to his explanations, and Siegfried had no choice but to fight for his life. He surely would have died that day, but Katalin happened to watch the battle from the castle’s window. She called back the guards and allowed Siegfried to step up in front of her. Impressed by his knowledge and abilities in battle, she offered him a place in her court, as warrior and knight slayer. Siegfried, even though he had repaid the mercenaries, was still bound to them by loyalty, but a feeling of icy fingers clutched his heart when he tried to explain this to the duchess. With a mixture of fear for his companions and himself he stayed, and soon rose in the duchess’ ranking.

At Katalin’s court, Siegfried also found the chance to change his appearance to fit his inner being. The court’s doctor, Lorraine, changed his body to that of a man. Siegfried’s confidence grew significantly, and Katalin showed herself impressed by this. Shortly after, she took Siegfried as her secret lover, keeping him a secret from Gregory. By now, Siegfried is completely loyal to the duchess, and tries to win her favor by bringing her the virgins she requires for her dark rituals.
