Biography

Uh-oh, looks like this amnesiac wandered a little too far from his home lair (grxndsxn, 437722), and now he's off to see the world! If ever you feel the need to exalt, he'd really appreciate it if you could just return him to the home lair, to the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread, here, or to the hub if you don't want another dragon in return. Please refrain from exalting him!

Important note: Please only trade this dragon on travelling dragon threads, as opposed to places such as the Auction House.

Iago would like to receive a permanent home someday, so if you'd like to adopt him after he's been travelling long enough, just let his owner know!

Owners I've Had:

Biography:

Iago doesn't know much about who he truly is. Although he spent much of his early life preparing himself for adventure, he was unexpectedly struck with amnesia as an adolescent, forgetting just about everything about himself - that is, except for his name.

Iago decided to make up a few fake backstories about himself after this. If he didn't know anything about who he was, then he couldn't prove that anything he made up about himself was necessarily false. Hopefully, this won't land him in any trouble...

Travel Log:

Volrin: Wisdom and Iago were the first residents of The Purified Temple's travellers' wing to awaken from their sudden lair death.

Iago's wake-up was a harsh one. The warm, quiet nothingness of his year-long unwilling hibernation gave way to a sudden wave of overwhelming sensation crashing into him, his vision and hearing and feeling and tasting and smelling all being returned to him far too fast. Iago startled awake with a roar.

He had felt like he was starving to death just a moment ago, right? He was sure of it. But just as suddenly as he had awoken, Iago was feeling sated and full. His brain was full of fog now, and he was pretty sure he had even more holes in his memory than before... great. Thanks, random sleeping spell or whatever the hell THAT was.

It took all of Iago's strength to simply stand himself back up. He looked to the temple floor then, made of polished stone, now dull with an age's worth of dust coating it. And yet, the spot he had just been laying was untouched, polished with an illustrious sheen just like Iago thought he remembered it. By the Plaguebringer, how long was he out of it?!

Iago was made aware to a sharp whimper then, coming from across the room. With how sensitive he was to any sensation right now, it was impossible to miss. He padded over to the source of the noise, beholding a barely familiar, pink-speckled Tundra as he got closer... the fluffball was barely awake, and seeming to have some sort of night terror. He looked like he needed some help snapping out of it.

"Hey, little pink fella! You good there?" Iago boomed over the Tundra as loud as he could, finally snapping him out of his panic. Looking into the bleary face now peering up at him, a pale feeling of recognition suddenly crept up in Iago. They had travelled to this Temple at about the same time, hadn't they? The Guardian had been introduced to him. He reached for a name...

"Iago?" The Tundra spoke first. That voice, that familiar voice! Finally, Iago's memories clicked into place like spinning gears. Wisdom!

"I s'pose it's one of the names I've called myself, at... some point." Iago answered humourously, feeling a bit sheepish. "And you're Wisdom, if my memory don't betray me? Which it often does, I'll admit. But I reckon I remember you introducin' yourself when we showed up here 'round the same time."

"I sympathize with that," Wisdom chuckled a little, "the memory thing, that is. Speaking of, I'm having a hard time recalling... where exactly is... here...?"

Wisdom took a moment's pause then, tilted his snout up to the open air and inhaled a deep breath. He sat for a moment, letting his brain process the olfactory information, and Iago offered him complete silence. The Tundra blurted out an answer to his own question.

"This temple was my home lair at one point, I think, but I haven't been here in such a long time. I'm supposed to be wise, like my name suggests, but... everything is so, so hazy to me right now. I think my memory has been failing me for a while."

"You're sure it's not just cause of this weird sleeping spell we just came out of?" Iago questioned him.

"No... I have no real way of knowing, but my intuition tells me it's been an issue for a very long time."

Iago tilted his head at the Tundra, a sympathetic look etched on his craggy snout. "Mine too. I feel ya."

...

A few hours later, much of the Temple's other residents were beginning to rouse as well. As soon as Wisdom and Iago had been able to confirm that the others were all okay, waking up without a hitch just as suddenly as hibernation had first settled on them all, the two were on to more pressing matters.

"How long 'ave we been sleepin', anyway?" Iago fretted. "How much do you think has changed out there? If everything is different, how am I gonna find a way to get my old memory back? Is it even worth it? Should I just go back to makin' up new me's, makin' new memories instead?"

Wisdom visibly struggled to form an answer. Iago hadn't really been expecting anything from the Tundra, but... "Worrying about it isn't going to solve anything," Wisdom spoke calmly, finally, "and there's nothing we can do to change what's already happened. We can't turn back time on our hibernation. What we can do, is go out there and look for answers... maybe together? Help to recall what the other cannot, search for dragons that might have known us before this all started?"

Iago smiled a little. Damn. Wisdom was right. "Well, now. Are you askin' me to be your travellin' partner?"

"With all this brain fog, I don't even really trust myself to travel alone." Wisdom huffed. "And I'll do whatever I can, whatever I can offer to help with the holes in your own memory. Maybe my olfactory sense will come in handy to you?"

The Guardian nodded. "I'd be happy to take you up on that offer, little fella."

...

And with a somewhat awkward farewell to the clan leaders that Wisdom could not remember, and that Iago had been lying to since the moment he first stepped foot in the Temple, the travellers set out once again. Together.

If you ever breed him, please offer any hatchlings in this thread!

This project is to, basically, give [Gengyar] a giant lineage. Just because he's ugly doesn't mean his children will be! I want him to have a mostly, if not totally, unexalted lineage because IT IS AN HONOR TO BE THE SON OR DAUGHTER OF A LEGENDARILY UGLY DRAGON.
