Biography

Kin to the Astralia are the Esuries, these dragons looked towards the stars and cursed at Tidelord's disappearance. They blamed him for their pain and the stars heard their wishes. A mother, was one of these dragons. She was bitter that Tidelord left her with no guidance. She was her clan’s oracle and when her deity disappeared, her clan doubted her prophecies. They charged into battle against the Beastclan against her advice and fell, slain at the clever traps laid out for them. She fled with her sole surviving child, and wandered the depths of the Sea of a Thousand Currents until she arrived here.

She saw the looks of relief from the surrounding dragons and swallowed a star. Her wish came true. She had wished for the emptiness to disappear, as did other Esuries. And disappear it did, the stars they swallowed dug their way down into the depths of their souls. When the fragments had found the emptiness, they tore it free and their hearts along with it. The stars did not live inside the Esuries like those within the Astralia, instead they dissipated into the air as magic and returned to their home in the skies before hibernating for their next life.

The Esuries, too, are star-touched. However, instead of hopes, their bodies are inscribed in doubts. These dragons are always hungry, looking for something fill the emptiness inside them. They wander the seas to consume the doubts within other dragons. The more the Esuries starve, the more transparent their skin becomes, revealing the bones within them. If you happen upon a starving Esuries, they may be feral. They will have lost themselves and eat away your doubts, but in their desperation, they may also consume your hopes and magic. Leaving nothing behind, but an empty husk left to wither.

Unlike the Astralia, the Esuries are not connected to the Aether because they did not gain a star companion. Instead, their minds are often consumed by thoughts of other dragons. The heavier the weight of doubt in a dragon’s mind, the louder it resonates into an Esuriei’s mind. Many Esuries find themselves eating, not just to satiate their gnawing hunger, but to find a moment’s peace.
