We've seen how the hive treats defective drones, so when we had noticed these larvae while scouting, we expected them to be terminated the moment that one of the current broodmothers happened upon them! Strange though, strange, that these managed to survive to adulthood unscathed! We expected them to be killed, or stolen away by the strong-willed defect, but they are as accepted as any other strange.
On closer inspection, we noticed that their carapace isn't snow white, as normal defects, but instead simply highly reflective and pearlescent. Very pretty, indeed, but to serve the hive, we are sure that they have some ulterior use of some sort..?
We will be watching these pearl drones very carefully.
ADDENDUM
The pearl drones are to under no circumstances be approached by any sentient dragon. Dangerous, highly dangerous.
We asked our colony to spare some inheritors to investigate the pretty pearly drones, and... they are so very beautiful. We see everything in their pelts. Their fur, normally matted as other tundra drones, reflect oil-slicked rainbows instead. Their bright chitin is mesmerizing, and...
Dear god, we aren't safe from them. They are worse than hypnodrones. Worse than lures. They show you everything. Love. Safety. Family.
And as soon as they have caught you, they tear you to shreds, and you realize that you've been lied to.
We think this is a worse fate than even assimilation, personally, but we caution against approaching any pearlescent drones. They are highly violent, have lesser capacity to create assimilation fluid, and will lash out against anything that comes close to their deceptive hides.
